Research Scholarships

 

Spinal Cord Injuries and SpinalCure Australia Scholarship

A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably
qualified candidate in the field of Spinal Cord Injuries to undertake
research studies leading to a PhD in Health Science; the project is to
investigate the physiological and psychosocial benefits of the Walk On
program, including functional improvements, altered general health,
improved quality of life and to identify any associated health economic
benefits; applicants should have a particular interest in exercise
rehabilitation after spinal cord injury and have an undergraduate degree
in exercise science, physiotherapy, medicine or equivalent educational
background; $30,000 to $35,000pa; up to 3 years.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Dairy Science (pasture-based automatic
milking systems)

A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably
qualified candidate in the field of dairy Science; the project is to
investigate voluntary dairy cow traffic behaviour to achieve consistent
high milking frequency in pasture-based, automatic milking systems
(AMS); applicants should have an Honours 1 or 2A degree in agricultural
science (BVS, BAVBS, BAgS, etc) and a particular interest in the field
of applied animal behaviour and pasture-based dairy production systems
and be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or New
Zealand citizen; $30,000pa; up to 3 years.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Physiology

A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available in the field of
Physiology; the project is to investigate the medicinal chemistry of the
neuroprotectant plant, saffron, to identify the bioactive component(s)
and systematically evaluate their mechanism and dynamics; applicants
should have training in medicinal chemistry, pharmacology and organic
chemistry, and in assessing the functional integrity of the retina in a
mammalian model and an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident
or New Zealand citizen; $25,000pa; up to 3 years.

Community and Public Sector Union (CPSU) PhD Scholarship

The Discipline of Work and Organisational Studies and the Union Strategy
Research group in the Faculty of Economics and Business have established
the Community and Public Sector Union (CPSU) PhD Scholarship; the
project is on the history of the CPSU which is one of Australia's
largest white-collar unions which draws membership from the APS and
among Territory employees, as well as from telecommunications and
community areas; $30,000pa; up to 3 years.

Australian Stuttering Research Centre Postgraduate Research Scholarship
(Psychology)

A full-time PhD scholarship is available at the Australian Stuttering
Research Centre; this project will explore the psychiatric status in a
large cohort of adults using age and sex matched controls; Applicants
must have an honors degree in psychology and clinical experience would
be an advantage, but is not essential; $27,500pa; up to 3 years.

Other Scholarships

 

Fisheries Scientific Committee Research Grants 2010

Grants are available for students to assist in the collection of
scientific data aimed at filling gaps in research information for
threatened and rare species of fish and marine vegetation in NSW;  the
data collected will assist in the preparation of the Priorities Action
Statement, Recovery Plans and Threat Abatement Plans by NSW Department
of Primary Industries; grants are intended for use by undergraduate 3rd
year major project students, or as part of an Honours, Masters or PhD
project; $3,000.
