NHMRC Scholarships

Applications for NHMRC Postgraduate Scholarships for commencement in
2011 are now open.  Applicants must read through the Scholarships Office
submission guidelines at

commencing a scholarship application.  Please note that applications
must now be submitted online via the NHMRC RGMS application system.
Draft applications are due at the Scholarships Office by Friday, 9 July
2010.

 

2010 Semester 2 APA/UPA Scholarships

Applications for 2010 Semester 2 APA and UPA scholarships are now open
and can be downloaded at

Applications will close 11 June 2010. To be eligible to apply in this
scholarship round, applicants must be Australian Citizens, Australian
permanent residents, or New Zealand Citizens. Applications are open to
those who propose to commence a full-time research degree at the
University of Sydney, and to those who have NOT previously applied in
the 2010 Semester 1 APA/UPA round but have enrolled in Semester 1.

Unsuccessful 2010 Semester 1 APA/UPA applicants who have commenced their
postgraduate studies at this University will NOT be considered. They
will need to apply in the 2011 Semester 1 round (applications open in
late August 2010). 

 

The following scholarships are also offered in conjunction with the 2010
Semester 1 APA/UPA.  For further information, please see:

July 2010.

 

Henry Bertie and Florence Mabel Gritton Research Scholarships (in
Chemistry related to Industry and Agriculture)

The Gritton Scholarships are awarded to candidates enrolling in a higher
degree by research and are intended to promote the knowledge and study
of chemistry in relation to industry and agriculture, including
chemistry connected with electrical engineering, metallurgical chemistry
and chemistry in its application to mining and the winning treatment of
minerals and natural products of the soil; the value, tenure and
benefits are similar to that of the APA.

 

DBH Scholarship (in social effects of alcoholism)

This scholarship was established by a series of donations from Dr Robin
J Helby under the express wish that the scholarship be offered in three
different fields in rotation; in 2010 Semester 2, the DBH Scholarship
will be open to candidates to undertake postgraduate research in the
area of the social effects of alcoholism, and is primarily open to
sociologists; tenure and benefits are similar to that of the APA.

 

G.C. Henderson Research Scholarship (in history of the Polynesian,
Melanesian and Micronesian communities)

Funded by a bequest from Professor G.C. Henderson to promote and
encourage research into the history of the Polynesian, Melanesian and
Micronesian communities; open to full-time postgraduate research
candidates intending to enroll in the Department of Anthropology or
History; tenure and benefits are similar to that of the UPA.
