Research Scholarships

 

Australian Rotary Health PhD Scholarships 2011

Applications for PhD Scholarships are being called for by the Australian
Rotary Health; the Scholarships are available in Motor Neuron Disease,
Parkinson's Disease; childhood cancer; bowel cancer, epilepsy, melanoma,
infant limb deficiency; Applicants must be about to commence a PhD, or
be in the first year of a PhD at a University or research institute in
Australia; applicants must be Australian citizens or Australian
Permanent Residents and not be under bond to any foreign government; the
value varies; up to three years. 

Closing Date:  25 June 2010

 

Ian Scott PhD Scholarship in Mental Health 2011

Applications are now being called for the Australian Rotary Health Ian
Scott PhD Scholarship for 2011; applications for this scholarship must
be relevant to the field of Mental Health research; applicants must be
about to commence a PhD, or be in the first or second year of a PhD at a
University or research institute in Australia; applicants must be
Australian citizens or Australian Permanent Residents and not be under
bond to any foreign government; $29,000pa; up to three years. 

Closing Date:  1 October 2010

 

Leukaemia Foundation PhD Scholarships 2011

The Leukaemia Foundation provides support for the educational and
professional development of researchers and other professionals
undertaking a PhD in a field relevant to leukaemias, lymphomas, myeloma
or related disorders; applicants can be Australian citizens and
permanent residents or New Zealand citizens holding a Special Category
Visa; applicants must have completed no more than one year of full-time
study toward their PhD; total value of up to $55,000pa; up to three
years. 

Closing Date: 24 September 2010

 

Heart Foundation Postgraduate Research Scholarships 2011

The Heart Foundation offers scholarships for nursing, medical , science
and other relevant graduates seeking support for full-time research
studies leading to a PhD at an Australian university or institution;
Applications are invited from Australian citizens and permanent
residents or New Zealand citizens holding a Special Category Visa.

Multiple Sclerosis Research Australia Postgraduate Scholarships 2011

Multiple Sclerosis Research Australia (MSRA) is offering postgraduate
scholarships for full time study for a higher degree (PhD or Masters by
Research) in an Australian university or institution; applicants must be
Australian citizens or who have been granted permanent residence status
and have lived in Australia continuously for 12 months before submitting
the application; valued at the 2010 NHMRC medical/biomedical rate.

The Australian Centre for Field Robotics (ACFR) Rio Tinto Centre for
Mining Automation Scholarship in Field Robotics

The new Centre for Mining Automation aims to develop and implement the
vision of a fully autonomous, remotely operated mine; students
interested in PhD research in the area of autonomous systems, including
data fusion, perception, control, learning and systems can apply for
this full time scholarship sponsored by Rio Tinto; applicants should
have a first class Honours degree in mechanical/mechatronics
engineering, mining engineering, electrical engineering,
aeronautical/aerospace engineering, mathematics, physics, computer
science or a related discipline or extensive appropriate professional
experience; $27,222pa; up to three years.

The ARC Centre for Excellence for Autonomous Systems (CAS) Scholarships
in Field Robotics

The ARC Centre of Excellence for Autonomous Systems invites students
interested in postgraduate research in the area of autonomous systems,
including perception, control, learning and systems to apply for a CAS
scholarship; applicants should have a first class honours degree in
aeronautical/aerospace engineering, mechanical/mechatronics engineering,
electrical engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science or
related discipline or extensive appropriate professional experience;
$27,222pa; up to three years.

The Cooke, Cooke, Coghlan, Godfrey and Littlejohn Scholarship

The Cooke, Cooke, Coghlan, Godfrey and Littlejohn scholarship has been
made available by the generosity of five benefactors of the Faculty of
Law; for those who enrol full-time in a higher degree in Law; valued at
the APA rate ($22,500pa in 2010); the scholarship award commencing in
Semester 2, 2010 is tenable for one semester only.

John O'Brien Memorial Research Scholarship in Criminal Law and
Criminology


This Law Faculty scholarship was established in 2008 by a bequest to
establish a memorial fund in perpetuity named the John O'Brien Memorial
Fund; the purpose of the bequest is to provide scholarships in the
University of Sydney Law School in particular for students in criminal
law; the scholarship award commencing in Semester 2, 2010 is tenable for
one semester only.

Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) in Fuzzy Spatial Temporal
Climate Modelling

This scholarship will provide support for 3 years on a full-time basis
for a research project leading to a PhD; the objective of the research
project is to develop a prediction model of seasonal rainfall and
temperature based on fuzzy clusters; applicants should have an Honours 1
or 2A degree in an applicable area; $27,222pa; up to three years.

Australian Postgraduate Research Award (Industry) on the Behaviour of
Post-tensioned Composite Steel-Concrete Slabs

This scholarship is funded by an ARC Linkage-Projects grant and will
provide support for 3 years on a full-time basis for a research project
leading to a PhD; the objective of the research project is to
investigate the behaviour of post-tensioned composite steel-concrete
floor systems and to develop feasible guidelines for practical use;
applicants should have an Honours 1 or 2A degree in engineering;
$26,669pa; up to three years.

Olga Tennison Autism PhD Scholarship

The Olga Tennison Autism Research Centre is offering a competitive PhD
research scholarship to be awarded to the best candidature-supervisor
team with an innovative research proposal in the area of autism;
applicants must be Australian or New Zealand citizens or permanent
residents who have a First Class Honours degree (or equivalent) or a
Masters degree.

Overseas Scholarships

 

Sir Robert Menzies Memorial Scholarship in Engineering

The Sir Robert Menzies Memorial Trust in London offers to Australian
post-graduate students a scholarship in Engineering tenable in the
United Kingdom commencing October, 2011; the scholarship includes return
fares and substantial emoluments which are not subject to United Kingdom
income tax; tenable for one, two or three academic years.
