NEWS: University of Sydney Travelling Scholarships

The University of Sydney Travelling Scholarships are currently open for
applications. These scholarships are open to graduates or graduands of
the University of Sydney who are of not more than four years standing
from qualifying for their final undergraduate degree. 

Scholarships shall normally be awarded to enable scholars to undertake
studies or research overseas. Applicants must be Australian citizens or
permanent residents. Scholarship conditions vary but usually include an
annual stipend of $20,000 and supplementation up to $2,000 to cover the
cost of airfares.

Research Scholarships

 

PhD Scholarship in Patient-Doctor Communication (Medical Oncology)

A full time scholarship is available for a suitably qualified applicant
to undertake research studies leading to a PhD in medical
oncology/clinical epidemiology; the project is a large, multi-site
cluster randomised controlled trial of an intervention to increase
patient involvement in cancer care and to improve patient doctor
communication about cancer clinical trials; Applicants must be a medical
oncology trainee within the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and
have Masters level (or equivalent) skills in epidemiology and
biostatistics; $34,000pa; up to 2 years.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Molecular Memory Characterization

A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably
qualified candidate to undertake research studies leading to a MSc. in
Chemistry; the project is to perform Scanning-Tunneling Microscopy
manipulation; applicants must have an Honours degree in Chemistry or
equivalent and must be Australian citizens, permanent residents, or New
Zealand citizens; $22,500pa; up to 2 years.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Medicinal Chemistry (Translocator Protein)

A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably
qualified candidate to undertake research studies leading to a MSc. in
Chemistry; the project is to develop new Translocater Protein (TSPO)
ligands what will have applications in the diagnosis and treatment of
brain disease; applicants should have an Honours degree In Chemistry and
must be Australian citizens, permanent residents, or New Zealand
citizens; $22,500pa; for 1 year only.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Medicinal Chemistry (Polycyclic Scaffolds)

A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably
qualified candidate to undertake research studies leading to a PhD in
Chemistry; the project is to develop new polycyclic scaffolds to explore
their potential as small molecule substrates for blood-brain-barrier
permeability; applicants should have an Honours degree In Chemistry and
must be Australian citizens, permanent residents, or New Zealand
citizens; $15,000pa; for 1 year only.

Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) on Social Marketing Campaigns
and Binge Drinking Among Young People 

This scholarship is funded by an ARC Linkage-Projects grant and will
provide support for a full time research project leading to a PhD; the
objective of the research project is to explore the challenges and
potentials of social marketing and health promotion in relation to
alcohol use, harm minimization and young people in Australia; applicants
should have an Honours 1 or 2A degree in the humanities or social
sciences and must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents
or New Zealand citizens; $27,222pa; up to three years.

University of Pretoria Commonwealth Doctoral Scholarship

The University of Pretoria is seeking candidates who will make a
significant contribution to the University's research endeavours; two
doctoral scholarships are being offered for students from Commonwealth
Countries (excluding South Africa).

Heart Foundation Travel Grants

The Heart Foundation (HF) offers Travel Grants to researchers working in
the area of cardiovascular disease or related areas in priority
categories; open to Australian citizens or permanent residents and
applicants must be based in Australia; up to $2,000.
