Research Scholarships

 

Postgraduate Scholarship in Organic Synthesis and Reaction Development

A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably
qualified candidate to undertake research studies leading to a PhD in
Chemistry; the project involves the design, synthesis and evaluation of
a new family of ligands to effect enantioselective transformations;
applicants must have a First Class Honours degree in Chemistry and must
be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand
citizens; $22,500pa; up to three years.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Trials and Outcomes in Paediatric surgery

A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably
qualified candidate with a medical degree intending to undertake
postgraduate surgical training, to undertake research studies leading to
a PhD in Medicine; the project is to conduct a range of studies around
trials and outcomes in Paediatric surgery; applicants should have a
medical degree and postgraduate qualifications in clinical epidemiology
and another surgically orientated subject; applicants must be Australian
citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand citizens;
$33,500pa; up to three years.

2010 AAR Postgraduate Research Scholarship in Dementia 

The AAR Postgraduate Research Scholarship in Dementia is offered as a
PhD scholarship to a student undertaking a research PhD in an area
relevant to an aspect of dementia; one scholarship will be awarded in
2010 for research commencing in 2011; applicants must be citizens or
permanent residents of Australia, or have been resident in Australia for
at least two years and have evidence of eligibility and application for
permanent residency; applicant from the University of Sydney must be
full-time; $30,000pa; up to three years.

Australian Stuttering Research Centre Postgraduate Research Scholarship
(Psychology)

A full-time PhD scholarship is available at The University of Sydney for
a suitably qualified candidate to undertake a project that involves the
development of an on-line CBT program for adolescents who stutter;
applicants must have an honours degree in psychology; includes flexible
funding for project expenses and conference travel; $25,000pa; up to
three years.

Australian Stuttering Research Centre Postgraduate Research Scholarship
(Stuttering Treatment/Psychology)

Two full-time scholarships are available at The University of Sydney for
suitably qualified candidates leading to a PhD; topic one looks at
attention, cognitive functioning and memory in adults who stutter; topic
two looks at speech restructuring treatment for adults who stutter with
and without safety behaviours; applicants should have an honours degree
in speech-language pathology or psychology; $25,000; up to three years.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Nutritional Geometry in Mice (Biological
Sciences)

A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably
qualified candidate to undertake research studies leading to a PhD in
Biological Sciences; the project is to investigate the nutritional bases
of ageing in mice; applicants must have a good honours degree in
science; $22,500pa; up to three years.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Sleep and Neurodegenerative Disease

A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably
qualified candidate with a good honours degree in neuropsychology,
psychology, clinical neuroscience or applied physiology; this study will
examine the relationship between sleep architecture and memory across a
range of neurodegenerative diseases; applicants should have at least an
Honours 2A Degree; applicants should be Australian citizens, Australian
permanent residents or New Zealand citizens; $26,000pa; up to three
years.

Other Scholarships

 

National Museum of Australia 2010 Student Prize for the History of
Australian Science or Environmental History

The 2010 Student Prize for the History of Australian Science or
Australian Environmental History will be awarded for an essay based on
original unpublished research undertaken while enrolled as a student
(postgraduate or undergraduate) at any tertiary educational institution
in the world; the prize is a certificate and $2500.
