Research Scholarships

 

2010 NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre Scholarships 

A number of full-time postgraduate scholarships are available for
suitably qualified candidates with a degree in medicine to undertake
research studies leading to a PhD; one research topic looks at clinical
cardiovascular research; the other research topics looks at diagnostic
test evaluation methods; applicants should have already completed a
significant time in training in clinical cardiology or clinical
epidemiology; up to $58,625pa; up to three years.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Medicine

A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably
qualified candidate to undertake research studies leading to a PhD in
Medicine; the project is to investigate the pharmacology and
pharmacokinetic profile of novel and potent anti-cancer agents;
applicants should have an Honours 1 degree in Science and must be
Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand
citizens; $22,500pa; up to three years.

Retinal Therapeutics PhD Scholarship (Muller Cell Diseases)

A full time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably
qualified candidature to undertake studies leading to a PhD at the Save
Sight Institute; the project is to identify the biochemical pathways
involved in Muller cell associated diseases using proteomic techniques;
applicants should have an Honours degree in a related field and must be
Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents, or New Zealand
citizens;  $22,500pa; up to three years.

Retinal Therapeutics PhD Scholarship (Muller Glial Dysfunction)

A full time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably
qualified candidature to undertake studies leading to a PhD at the Save
Sight Institute; the project is to identify the role of muller glial
dysfunction in blood retinal barrier breakdown; applicants should have
an Honours degree in a related field and must be Australian citizens,
Australian permanent residents, or New Zealand citizens;  $22,500pa; up
to three years.

Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) on Social Marketing Campaigns
and Binge Drinking Among Young People 

This scholarship is funded by an ARC Linkage-Projects grant and will
provide support for a full time research project leading to a PhD; the
objective of the research project is to explore the challenges and
potentials of social marketing and health promotion in relation to
alcohol use, harm minimization and young people in Australia; applicants
should have an Honours 1 or 2A degree in the humanities or social
sciences and must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents
or New Zealand citizens; $27,222pa; up to three years.

Arrow-Hawkesbury Canoe Classic PhD Scholarship

The Arrow Bone Marrow Transplant Foundation (Arrow) is offering a
supplementary scholarship for students commencing an Australian
Postgraduate Award (APA) or comparable competitive postgraduate research
scholarship in 2010; focuses on biomedical research in the area of
leukaemia and/or stem cell transplantation; $11,000pa; up to three
years.

Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) in Health Informatics Research

An exciting opportunity exists for a PhD candidate to work in a new area
of health informatics research related to how health professionals can
work with information and communication technology to improve delivery
of care and outcomes for patients; applicants should have an Honours 1
or equivalent and be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents
or New Zealand citizens; $26,669pa; up to three years.

Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) in Immunological Biophotonics

The Interdisciplinary Photonics Laboratories (iPL) within the School of
Chemistry of the University of Sydney are offering a scholarship on a
full-time basis for a research project leading to a PhD; the project
involves research into developing the next generation of
ultra-sensitive, massively parallel, photonic immunologic diagnostic
assays; applicants must have an  Honours 1 or 2A degree; international
students can apply however tuition fees payable by international
students are not covered; $26,669pa; up to three years.

WPSA University Student Grants 2010

The Wildlife Preservation Society of Australia provides ten grants of
$1,000 each to honours or postgraduate students conducting research that
will contribute to the conservation of Australian wildlife; for use
towards expenses such as equipment, consumables, travel, or attendance
of conferences; previous recipients of the $1000 Student Grants are
eligible to apply for a $5,000 Centenary Grant.
