Research Scholarships

 

Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) on the Forecasting the Economic
Impact of Disease in Older Workers

This scholarship is funded by an ARC Linkage-Projects grant and will
provide support on a full-time basis leading to a PhD; the project aims
to examine and forecast the relationship between health and work and
determine the economic impacts of disease on older workers using complex
microsimulation modelling; applicants should have an Honours 1 or 2A
degree in economics, computer science, mathematics or health sciences;
applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents
or New Zealand citizens; $27,222pa; up to two years.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Modeling the Mechanical Behavior of
Magnesium Alloys

A scholarship is available to undertake full time research leading to a
PhD degree; the project aims to develop a comprehensive crystal
plasticity model to predict stress-strain behaviour and texture
evolution of a magnesium-aluminium alloy; applicants must have an
Honours degree (or equivalent) in Engineering or Science; international
students can apply but the scholarship does not cover any tuition fees;
separate tuition fees scholarships may be provided for international
students from the School of Civil Engineering; $22,500pa; up to three
years.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Polymer Science

A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably
qualified candidate to undertake research studies leading to a PhD in
Chemistry; the project is to develop new polymeric materials for
application in homecare products; Applicants must be Australian
citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand citizens and
must have an Honours degree in Chemistry; $26,669pa; up to three years.

PhD Scholarship in Tectonics and Geodynamics

Applications are invited for a 1 year PhD scholarship in Plate
Tectonics/Geodynamics; the project looks at the role of dynamic plate
boundary processes such as mid-ocean ridge subduction, and slab breakoff
on large scale changes to the plate system; applicants must have Honours
or MSc or equivalent; $22,500pa; up to 1 year. 

Closing Date: 17 February 2010

 

Postgraduate Scholarship in Polymer Science and Engineering

A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably
qualified candidate to undertake research studies leading to a Masters
or PhD in Chemical Engineering; the project is to investigate the
synthesis and behavior of complex polymeric nanoparticle systems;
applicants should have a good honours degree in science or engineering;
$22,500pa; up to three years.

RMLP QPR Conference Student Sponsorship

RMPL will be sponsoring a postgraduate students' attendance at the
upcoming 9th Quality in Postgraduate Researchers Conference (QPR) in
Adelaide, South Australia; the conference this year looks at educating
researchers for the 21st century and provides opportunities for students
to network and discuss current research practices; the sponsorship
includes airfare and conference registration.
