G.C. Henderson Scholarships 2009

This scholarship is open to full time postgraduate research candidates
intending to undertake research into the history of Polynesian,
Melanesian and Micronesian communities in the Departments of
Anthropology, Archaeology or History at the University of Sydney;
$20,427pa in 2009; up to three years.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Tissue Engineering and Biomaterials Research

A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably
qualified candidate with an honours degree in Science, Biomedical
Engineering to undertake research studies leading to a PhD; the broad
aim of the project is to understand mechanisms of inflammation and joint
damage in inflammatory arthritis; applicants must be Australian citizens
or Australian permanent residents; $30,000; up to three years.

Closing Date:  30 May 2009

 

National Breast Cancer Foundation Doctoral Research Scholarship 2010

The purpose of the scholarship is to provide outstanding graduates with
a strong interest in breast cancer research with an opportunity to
pursue full-time PhD studies at an Australian University; open to
students who are engaged in any discipline of research specifically
relevant to breast cancer; approx $33,240pa; up to three years. 

Closing Date:  5 June 2009

 

Postgraduate Scholarships in: Immunopathological studies of infectious
diseases; Physiology and pathophysiology of tryptophan metabolism.

Two scholarships are offered to students who undertake a higher degree
by research in the broad fields of immunology, pathophysiology and
biochemistry;  Project 1 is in pathogenesis of bacterial meningitis;
Project 2 is in biomedical significance of indoleamine dioxygenase-2;
applicants should have H1 or 2A; applicants must be Australian citizens,
Australian permanent residents, or NZ citizens; $26,000 pa; up to 3
years; can also be awarded as a top-up scholarship to a combined total
value of $26,000 pa, if the recipient receives an offer of another
scholarship.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Novel Methods to Assess Cellular Oxidative
Stress

A full-time post-graduate scholarship is available for a suitably
qualified candidate with an excellent Honours degree in chemistry,
biochemistry, pharmacology or medical science to undertake research
studies leading to a PhD in Pathology; the scholarship is for research
aimed at establishing new analytical methods to detect and quantify
reactive oxygen and nitrogen species in cells and tissues using
HPLC-mass spectrometry and other analytical techniques; applicants must
be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand
citizens; $20,427pa (tax exempt); up to three years.
