Week beginning: 11 May 2009

 

Applications for 2009 Semester 2 VCRS and UPA scholarships are now open
and can be downloaded at
http://www.usyd.edu.au/ro/training/postgraduate_awards.shtml. 

 

Applications will close 12 June 2009. To be eligible to apply in this
scholarship round, applicants must be Australian Citizens, Australian
permanent residents, or New Zealand Citizens proposing to commence a
full-time research degree at the University of Sydney. Students who are
enrolled in a research degree at the University, including those who
upgraded or intend to upgrade from a Research Masters to a Research
Doctorate degree in 2009 semester 2, are ineligible to apply in this
scholarship round.  These students and candidates who intend to commence
their research degree in 2010 Semester 1 should apply for a VCRS/APA/UPA
instead (applications will open in late August 2009).

ARC Centre of Excellence for Autonomous Systems (CAS) Scholarships in
Field Robotics

The ARC Centre of Excellence for Autonomous Systems (CAS) invites
students interested in postgraduate research in the area of autonomous
systems, including perception, control, learning and systems to apply
for a CAS Scholarship; $26,407pa; applicants should have a first class
honours degree; up to three years. 

Closing Date: 25 May 2009

 

Postgraduate Scholarship in High Resolution Atom Probe Microscopy 

A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for an enthusiastic
candidate to undertake research studies leading to a PhD in microscopy
and microanalysis; applicants should have an Honours 1 or 2A or
equivalent degree in science or engineering; international students can
apply but the scholarship does not cover any tuition fees payable;
$26,700pa; up to three years. 

Closing Date:  20 May 2009

 

Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) in High-Strength Formwork
Systems

The objective of this project is to devise advanced design methods for
support scaffold systems based on geometric and material nonlinear
analysis methods; the project leads to a PhD; applicants should have
Honours 1 or 2A degree; applicants must be Australian citizens,
Australian permanent residents, or New Zealand citizens; $26,140pa; up
to three years.

Australian Pain Society/ Australian Pain Relief Association PhD
Scholarship

The Australian Pain Society (APS) is a Multidisciplinary Society whose
charter is to improve the education, research and development, diagnosis
and treatment of all forms of pain; for research leading to a PhD;
applicants must hold an Honours 1 degree or a Masters degree; applicants
must be an Australian citizens and the applicant and his/her supervisor
must be members of the APS; $23,000pa; up to three years.

Heart Foundation Postgraduate Research Scholarships

The Heart Foundation offers Postgraduate Research Scholarships in
Biomedical, Clinical and Public Health disciplines; these scholarships
are for nursing, medical or science graduates seeking support for
full-time research studies leading to a PhD at an Australian university
or institution; applicants should be Australian citizens or Permanent
Resident who engage in research in Australia at the time of application.


Closing Date: 14 August 2009

 

Ian O'Rourke Scholarship in Patient Safety

NSW Clinical Excellence Commission invites applications from suitably
qualified and highly motivated graduates to undertake a program of full
time health services research to improve patient safety and quality in
indigenous health; applicants must reside within New South Wales for the
duration of the scholarship; applicants must be Australian citizens or
permanent residents; for PhD commencement in 2010; $38,378pa; up to
three years.

Julian Small Foundation Annual Research Grant 2009

The Julian Small Foundation aims to promote and foster study, research
and development of the law relating to employment and industrial
relations in Australia. Grants of $4,000 to $10,000 are being offered to
students enrolled at an Australian university who are undertaking
research and involved in the study of law, or industrial relations.

Closing Date:  11 September 2009

 

King and Amy O'Malley Scholarships 2009

Up to 30 scholarships are being offered for tertiary students who are
undertaking full time postgraduate study in an aspect of Home Economics
in Australia or overseas; currently valued at $7,500.
