Postgraduate Scholarship in Medicinal Inorganic Chemistry

A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably
qualified candidate with a good honours degree in science to undertake
research studies leading to a PhD in medicinal inorganic chemistry; the
project is to investigate matrix metalloproteinase binding complexes as
diagnostic and therapeutic agents in the detection and treatment of
metastatic cancer and neurodegenerative diseases; applicants must be
Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand
citizens; $20,427pa; up to three years.

Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) in Metal Rolling Mechanics

A scholarship funded by an ARC Linkage-Project grant is available on a
full-time basis for a research project leading to a PhD at the
University of Sydney, School of Aerospace, Mechanical and Mechatronic
Engineering; applicants should have an Honours 1 or 2A degree in
Mechanical Engineering, or a relevant discipline; the objective of the
research project is to investigate the mechanics of the mixed
lubrication in metal rolling; applicants must be citizens or permanent
residents of Australia or citizens of New Zealand; $26,140pa; up to
three years.

Cancer Institute NSW Research Scholar Awards

The Cancer Institute NSW is providing funding opportunities to develop
and support outstanding students enrolled in a higher degree who have
the potential to develop highly significant careers in cancer research;
applicants must have already secured a scholarship from the NHMRC, or
their University of enrolment, or another source; $25,000pa, of which
$5,000pa is paid directly to the scholarship holder and $20,000pa
towards project and travel costs; up to three years.

AINSE 2009 Postgraduate Research Awards

The Australian Institute of Nuclear Science and Engineering (AINSE) are
offering top-up scholarships for doctoral candidates holding an
Australian Postgraduate Award or equivalent scholarship; applicants will
have a research project associated with nuclear science, or its
applications, and require access to the unique national facilities at
ANSTO; $7,500pa as stipend, $5,500pa for costs involved in using the
facilities, and additional travel and accommodation allowances to work
at Lucas Heights.

AW Howard Memorial Trust Inc. Pasture Research and Travel Scholarships

The AW Howard Memorial Trust aims to encourage and promote research and
investigation in the fields of natural science and social science,
including economics which relate to the development, management and use
of pastures; there are three grants offered including $3,500pa travel
grant, $5,000pa research fellowships and $5,000 grants-in-aid.

ISANA Bursaries 2009

Several bursaries are being offered in areas relating to the education,
support and well-being of post-graduate research international students
studying in Australia or New Zealand; bursaries will be awarded for a
refereed paper authored or co-authored by the student and presented at
the 20th ISANA Conference 2009 in Canberra; from$500.00 to $1500.00.
