NEWS ITEM: A Career Development Day for Early Researchers will be held
by the Australian Society for Medical Research (ASMR) from 9am to 5pm on
Tuesday 30th September 2008, Eastern Avenue Auditorium, Eastern Avenue,
Camperdown Campus, University of Sydney. Speakers will cover research
management, scientific fellowships, clinical and pharmaceutical
research, patent law, commercialisation in research and alternative
careers in biomedical research.  Places are limited and registration is

Research Scholarships:

 

PhD Scholarship in Application of Stem Cells In Regenerative Medicine  

A full time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably
qualified candidate with a First Class Honours degree or equivalent in
science or medicine to undertake research studies leading to a PhD in
the area of application of stem cells in regenerative medicine;
$20,000pa; for up to one year; applicants must be citizens or permanent
residents of Australia

Lens Aging PhD Scholarship

A scholarship is being offered to a student to undertake a PhD in the
area of aging and the posttranslational modification of human lens
proteins; applicants should have an Honours degree in Chemistry or
Biochemistry from an Australian university or equivalent; applicants
must be commencing an MPhil or PhD in the Medicine Faculty; $35,000pa;
for up to 3 years

The Council of the Near Eastern Archaeology Foundation invites
applications for travel grants for travel in 2009; between
$1,500-$5,000.

The British Chevening Scholarships

The Chevening Scholarships programme offers outstanding graduates and
young professionals the opportunity to study at UK universities; across
a broad range of fields and disciplines; applicants should have a strong
undergraduate degree (preferably H1 or H2) and must be citizens or
permanent residents of Australia; up to one year.

Dan David Prize Scholarships

Tel Aviv University will provide 10 Dan David Prize Awards valued
US$15,000 each to study topics in the selected fields of: Astrophysics
and the History of the Universe; Leadership; and Global Public Health;
to undertake research at Tel Aviv University in 2009
