NEWS:

 

National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Postgraduate
Research Scholarships for 2009

Applications for the 2009 NHMRC Postgraduate Research Scholarships are
now open.  Applicants for these scholarships must refer to the
University of Sydney Submission Guidelines available from
http://www.usyd.edu.au/ro/training/NHMRC2007Schols.shtml prior to
commencing the application.  Completed applications must be sent to the
Research Office by Friday, 11 July 2008.

 

RESEARCH: Spintronics; Law.

Research Scholarships

 

Postgraduate Scholarship in Spintronics

A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for an enthusiastic
candidate to undertake research studies leading to a PhD in spintronics;
to investigate the microscopic origin of the observed properties in
spintronics materials by using advanced microscopy and microanalysis;
Honours 1 or 2A or equivalent degree in science or engineering required;
must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or New
Zealand citizens; international students can apply but the scholarship
does not cover tuition fees; $26,000 pa; up to three years.

Julian Small Research Grant

The Julian Small Foundation's key objective is to promote and foster
study, research and development of the law relating to employment and
industrial relations within Australia; applications sought from students
who are undertaking research and are involved in the study of employment
related law or industrial relations; between $4,000 and $12,000.

Overseas Scholarships

 

Japanese Government Monbukagakusho Scholarships

The Monbukagakusho (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and
Technology, Government of Japan: MEXT) offers scholarships to Australian
nationals who wish to study at Japanese universities under the Japanese
Government (MEXT) scholarship Program; 2 years starting in April 2009 or
18 months starting in October 2009; applicants must be graduates or
final year students under 35 years of age on 1 April.

Endeavour Awards

The Australian Government provides financial support for postgraduate
students and postdoctoral fellows from Australia to undertake short-term
research (4-6 months), in any field of study, in participating
Asia-Pacific countries; aimed at building international linkages and
networks; opportunity to further develop knowledge and skills.

Australia-Israel Scientific Exchange Foundation Postgraduate Fellowship
Award

The Australia-Israel Scientific Exchange Foundation serves the academic
communities of Australia and Israel; an award for postgraduate students
in Australian and Israeli universities to undertake part of their
research for their PhD in matching institutions in Israel and Australia;
AU$5,000 for of up to six months.

National Heart Foundation of Australia

The National Heart Foundation of Australia offers Summer Scholarships to
undergraduates at an Australian University or Institution; participate
in supervised Biomedical, Clinical or Public Health research projects
which are broadly related to cardiovascular function and disease; six to
eight weeks; $180 per week; open to Australian citizens on permanent
residents and applicants must be based in Australia
