Research Scholarships

 

Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) in International and
Development Education

This scholarship will provide support for 3 years on a full-time basis
for a research project leading to a PhD; the project is a comparative
study of education policy in relation to national development strategies
in the project's 6 case study countries - Cambodia, Indonesia, the
Philippines, PNG, Vanuatu and Vietnam; applicants should have an H1 or
2A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant social science field; applicants
must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or NZ
citizens;  $25,627 pa.

Postgraduate Research Scholarship in the EHN Virus in the Murray Darling
Basin

To conduct research into viral diseases of fish in the Murray Darling
river system, leading to a PhD in epidemiology and infectious diseases;
the project will investigate the occurrence of epizootic haematopoietic
necrosis virus (EHNV) in native finfish and determine the susceptibility
of these species to the virus experimentally; $25,000 pa; applicants
should be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or NZ
citizens; applicants must have an hons degree in Veterinary Science,
Science or equivalent.

Postgraduate Scholarships and Scholarship Supplements in Turbulent
Combustion

Applications are invited from Hons Graduates in Science or Engineering
for postgraduate scholarships or supplements for current scholarship
holders such as APA leading to MER or PhD in Engineering; successful
applicants will perform research on ARC funded projects aimed at
understanding the flow, mixing and combustion characteristics of
turbulent reacting and non-reacting flows; $21,000 pa; up to 3 years
subject to the availability of funds; for a current scholarship holder,
a supplement will be awarded to bring the scholarship level to $21,000
pa.

ANZAC Research Institute Andrology Scholarship

An Andrology scholarship is available immediately for a suitable
graduate in science, medicine or a closely related life science
discipline to undertake research at the ANZAC Research Institute while
enrolled in a PhD degree at the University of Sydney; the project
involves studying tissue-specific mechanisms of androgen action via the
androgen receptor in the prostate; $20,000 pa; up to 3 years.

AFUW-SA Bursaries

The following bursaries are available in 2007-08: 

 

2007 Jean Gilmore Bursary - up to $6,000

2007 Thenie Baddams Bursary - up to $6,000

2007 Daphne Elliott Bursary - up to $6,000

 

These Bursaries are open to women with a good Honours degree or
equivalent to assist with research towards a Master's by Research or PhD
degree at any Australian university; there is no restriction on field of
study; applicants must have completed one year of postgraduate research.

Overseas Scholarships

 

University of Hong Kong Postgraduate Studentships and Fellowships 

The University of Hong Kong is offering University Postgraduate
Studentships to provide selected students with financial assistance in
the form of a scholarship to study full-time for the degrees of MPhil or
PhD; basic stipend is HK$12,500 per month; University Postgraduate
Fellowships are available for selected full-time PhD candidates with an
excellent academic record; Fellowships are worth HK$70,000.

Scotland Scholarship

The Scottish International Scholarship Programme is targeted at
graduates in science, technology and the creative industries, and aims
to create lasting connections between Scotland and industry leaders and
entrepreneurs across the world; 2 scholarships will be offered for
Australian students; the scholarship covers the tuition fees, return
economy airfare and a living allowance.

Robert Menzies Memorial Scholarship in Engineering

The scholarship includes return fares and substantial emoluments which
are not subject to United Kingdom income tax; tenable for one, two or
three academic years; academic excellence is of primary importance; the
Selection Committee will seek individuals who are likely to attain
prominence in Australia as demonstrated by their record of leadership,
extra-curricular activities and interest in the service of others.
