Research Scholarships

 

Master of Philosophy Scholarship in microRNA Bioinformatics

This scholarship will provide support over 1 year on a full time basis
for research leading to the award of Master of Philosophy; the objective
of the research project is to develop bioinformatics algorithms for the
identification and characterisation of micro RNAs important in
hemopoiesis; applicants should have an Hons1 degree from an Australian
University (or equivalent) in bioinformatics with strong programming
skills in either PERL or Java; applicants must be Australian citizens,
Australian permanent residents, or NZ citizens; $24,851 - $28,000
depending on experience.

Postgraduate Research Scholarship (Falls prevention with minority
communities)

A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available to investigate the
enablers and barriers of implementing and sustaining a falls prevention
program; candidates should have a degree in psychology, occupational
therapy, physiotherapy or related degree and be eligible to enrol in a
PhD at the Faculty of Health Sciences; $25,365 pa; up to 1.5 years.

ANSTO/Usyd Scholarship in Reflectometry of Biosurfaces

For a suitably qualified candidate with a good honours degree in science
or engineering to undertake research studies leading to a PhD in
physics; the project involves utilising x-ray and neutron reflectometry
to study thin film polymer surfaces and their interaction with active
biomolecules, including enzymes and antibodies; $24,851 pa; up to 3
years; applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent
residents or NZ citizens.

Postgraduate Scholarships in Influenza Research

For PhD research to advance proteomics surveillance of the influenza
virus and anti-viral drug screening; open to Australian citizens and
permanent residents; candidates should hold a Hons 1 or high 2A degree
(or equivalent) in a relevant discipline; $19,616 pa; up to 3 years.

Rismark International PhD Scholarships in Real Estate Finance

For a suitably qualified candidate with outstanding Hons 1 or a Masters
degree in finance to undertake research studies leading to a PhD in
Finance; to conduct research on Australian real estate markets; $40,000
pa; initially offered for 1 year.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Chemistry

Available for a suitably qualified candidate with a good hons degree in
chemistry or related discipline to undertake research studies leading to
a PhD in chemistry; the project will develop new methods for the
detection of drugs in sport and builds on a long standing collaboration
between the School of Chemistry and with the Australian Racing Forensic
Laboratory based in Randwick; $19,616 pa with a top-up of $5,000 pa for
highly qualified applicants; up to 3 years, applicants must be
Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or NZ citizens.

Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) Exploring Motorist Responses to
Pay-As-You_Drive (PAYD) Charges

This scholarship will provide support for 3 years on a full-time basis
for a research project leading to a PhD; the objective of the research
project is to facilitate, predict and detect changes in driving
behaviour and encourage safer driving practices through kilometre-based
charges; Applicants should have an Hons 1 or 2A degree (or equivalent)
or Masters level degree in transport, civil engineering, economics,
econometrics, or disciplines with a strong behavioural focus such as
psychology and human geography; Applicants must be Australian citizens,
Australian permanent residents or NZ citizens; $25,627 plus $4,373
top-up pa.
