Research Scholarships

 

Postgraduate Research Scholarship (Stuttering Treatment)

For a suitably qualified candidate with a degree in speech-language
pathology eligible to enrol in a PhD; the project involves investigating
the relationship between anxiety and stuttering; $25,000 pa; up to 3
years.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Medical Sciences

For a suitably qualified candidate with a H1 degree in science to
undertake research studies leading to a PhD in Medical Sciences; the
project is to dissect pathogenic mechanisms in animal models of
Alzheimer's disease using immuno-histological and biochemical
techniques; $30,000 pa; up to 3 years.

Postgraduate Scholarship in respiratory gene expression

For a suitably qualified candidate with a H1 degree in science to
undertake research studies leading to a PhD; the project is to
investigate differences in gene expression between asthmatic and
nonasthmatic airway smooth muscle; applicants must be an Australian
citizen, Australian permanent resident or a NZ citizen; $10,000 pa; up
to 3 years.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Sports Drug Testing Chemistry

For a suitably qualified candidate with a good hons degree in chemistry
or related discipline to undertake research studies leading to a PhD in
chemistry; the project will develop new methods for the detection of
drugs in sport; $19,616 pa with a top-up of $5,000 pa to highly
qualified applicants; up to 3 years; applicants must be Australian
citizens, Australian permanent residents or NZ citizens.

ARC-Funded Postgraduate Scholarships in Chemistry

Full-time postgraduate scholarships are available for suitably qualified
candidates with good honours degrees in science, preferably majoring in
Chemistry to undertake research studies leading to a PhD in biological
inorganic/medical chemistry; 3 projects are available; $19,616 pa; up to
3 years; applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent
residents or NZ citizens.

ANSTO-University of Sydney Postgraduate Scholarship - 2007

USyd and ANSTO are offering a research scholarship to an outstanding
candidate for full-time studies leading to a PhD; applicants can choose
from a list of interesting projects in a number of disciplines; valued
at the APAI rate ($24,851 pa in 2006); up to 3 years; a relocation
allowance of up to $5,000 is also available; applicants must be
Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or NZ citizens.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Pharmaceutics Biodiscovery

For a suitably qualified candidate with a good Hons degree in molecular
biotechnology, chemistry or related discipline; the scholarship is
available from 31 March 2007 until 31 December 2007; $19,616 pa
(pro-rata); the successful candidate will develop novel methods for the
selective capture of metabolites of pharmacological interest from
bacterial cultures; applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian
permanent residents or NZ citizens.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Dermatology

For a suitable candidate with a medical qualification (MBBS) to
undertake research studies leading to a M.Med in dermatology; the
project is to investigate the effects of different compounds on
ultraviolet radiation-induced suppression of human skin immune
responses; $26 000 pa; up to 2 years; applicants must be citizens or
permanent residents of Australia.

PhD scholarship on pig vaccination and immunology

A PhD scholarship in animal health and immunology is available for up to
3 years; the project seeks to improve the health of pigs in Australia
and reduce antibiotic use for the disease proliferative enteropathy
(PE); applicants should have an H1 or 2A degree in veterinary science,
animal science, science or agricultural science; $25,118 pa;
international students are welcome to apply but will need to pay their
own tuition fees.

Other Scholarships

 

ABRS Bursaries for Student Travel 

Applications are invited from Postgraduate Students for Travel Bursaries
to attend conferences relevant to studies in systematics or taxonomy; a
maximum of $1,000 is available for an international conference and $500
for travel within Australia.
