Postgraduate Research Scholarship (Stuttering Treatment)

For a suitably qualified candidate with a degree in speech-language pathology eligible to enrol in a PhD; the project involves an experimental stuttering treatment for pre-school children; research experience with children who stutter is essential; $25,000 pa; up to 3 years; the scholarship provides flexible funding for project expenses and conference travel.

PhD Scholarship in Psychology - Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder

For a suitably qualified candidate with a 2.1 or better honours degree in psychology to undertake research studies leading to a PhD; the project is to investigate the nature and management of obsessive-compulsive checking; $19,231 pa; up to 3 years.

PhD Scholarship Investigating Practical Interventions that Improve Quality of Life in People with Cancer and their Carers. 

Applications for a PhD Scholarship in the area of Quality of Life in cancer are being called for by the Australian Rotary Health Research Fund; $25,000 pa; maximum of 3 years; applicants must be eligible to undertake a PhD program, or be in the 1st or 2nd  years of a PhD program at an appropriate University or Research Institute in NSW.

PhD Scholarship Investigating Liver Metastases in Cancer 

Applications for a PhD Scholarship: the Fred Barbagallo, ARHRF and Rotary Club of Dural research into secondary cancer of the liver are being called by the Australian Rotary Health Research Fund; $25,000 pa; maximum of 3 years; applicants must be eligible to undertake a PhD program at a University or research institute in New South Wales. PhD Scholarship Investigating Mental Health (ARHRF/Nathan's Bequest Scholarship)

Applications for a PhD Scholarship in the area of mental health are being called for by the Australian Rotary Health Research Fund; the research should focus on the causes and prevention of Mental Illness, in particular depression and youth suicide; $25,000 pa; maximum of 3 years; applicants must be eligible to undertake a PhD programme, or be in the 1st or 2nd years of a PhD programme at a University or research institute in NSW.

Australian Cystic Fibrosis Research Fund Postgraduate PhD Studentship Award

The Trustees of the Australian Cystic Fibrosis Research Trust invite post graduate students to apply for the Post Graduate Studentship Award; $5,000 pa for the duration of your principal scholarship (APA, UPA, NHMRC, etc) to assist your studies.

CSIRO Flagship Postgraduate Scholarships

Up to 50 National Research Flagship Postgraduate Scholarships will be offered; the scholarships are available for high quality students eligible to enrol in a PhD degree at an Australian university who will be working on a project which is directly relevant to the goals of a Flagship; top-up scholarships are valued at an annual rate of $7,000 for 3 years; full scholarships offer a stipend of the equivalent of the APA stipend plus CSIRO's top-up amount of $7,000 per annum for 3 years.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Cellular and Molecular Biology and Pharmacology

A full-time postgraduate scholarship funded by the Friedreich's Ataxia Research Alliance USA is available for a suitably qualified candidate with a good honours degree in science (1st or 2A Hons) to undertake research studies leading to a PhD in cellular and molecular biology; the project is to investigate the role of the protein frataxin in the metabolism of iron in the mitochondrion; valued at the same rate as an APA or higher, depending upon the applicant academic performance and standing; up to 3 years; applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of Australia.

Other Scholarships

 

Embassy of France in Australia Grant for Cotutelle 2007

To be eligible for funding candidates must be a PhD student (of any nationality) enrolled in a Cotutelle project (underway) between a French and an Australian university; not have benefited from the French Embassy Cotutelle grant in previous years; and be registered with FEAST-France (supervisors must also be registered); $2,500 per student towards international travel between France and Australia.

Hong Kong Research Grant 2007

The society offers a single research grant of up to £2,500; for postgraduate students of any nationality who intend to undertake geographical research in the Greater China region; funds may be used to help with travel, equipment, data collection and subsistence in the field; applicants must be postgraduate students registered with a University, undertaking a PhD course; applicants must be undertaking field research in the Greater China region relevant to their studies.

Overseas Scholarships

 

Finnish Government Scholarships 2007 - 2008

The Finnish Government offers scholarships to Australians for post-graduate studies, research and teaching for 3-9 months at a higher education institution or public research institute in Finland; the scholarship includes a monthly allowance of EUR 725; arrival money of EUR 200 for scholarship recipients staying for the whole academic year and EUR 100 for those staying for one term.

The Engineering Master scholarship

The "N + I" (national + international) engineering master is an innovative program which enables students from all over the world to apply to more than 60 French engineering schools; study projects can be in any field of engineering; candidates must be Australian nationals and have a bachelor degree in engineering or science; monthly allowance of 700 euros for the duration of the degree (2 years) and full health cover for the duration of the studies.
