Research Scholarships

 

Postgraduate Research Scholarship in Engineering Education

A full-time postgraduate research scholarship is available for a
suitably qualified candidate with a degree in education, science or
engineering to undertake research studies leading to a Master's degree
with possible extension to a PhD degree; the title of the Scholarship is
"Integration and Appraisal of Problem-based Learning in Chemical
Engineering Curriculum"; $21,000 pa; up to 2 years for a Masters
candidate with the possible extension of 1 year for a PhD candidate.

Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) in Agricultural
Microbiology/Biological Chemistry/Plant Morphogenesis

This scholarship will provide support for 3 years on a full-time basis
for a research project leading to a PhD; the project is to investigate
the role of P-mobilising microbes in the plant rhizosphere to promote
the growth of crop and pasture plants, in particular to examine the
interaction of plant and microbe genotypes as factors in the formation
of highly effective relationships; applicants must have an a Honours 1
or 2A degree in a scientific discipline with an emphasis on agricultural
microbiology, biological chemistry or plant morphogenesis; $25,118 pa,
applicants must be citizens of Australia or New

Zealand or permanent residents of Australia.

Bovine Salmonella Research Scholarship

This is a 2 year postgraduate scholarship to support a postgraduate
veterinary student undertaking research training in Ruminant Health and
Production at the University Veterinary Centre Camden; the research
program includes the development and evaluation of salmonella vaccines
in livestock; the student will be expected to undertake a PhD in
Veterinary Science and progress towards achieving an advanced clinical
qualification (eg Membership of the Australian College of Veterinary
Scientists, MACVSc); $35,000 pa.

Royal Australian College of Surgeons Foundation Funded Scholarships

A number of scholarships are open to RACS Trainees or Fellows who are
enrolled in, or intending to enrol in a higher degree. Please note that
research departments will be expected to provide 25% of the funding for
the awards.

PhD Scholarship investigating Cancer Genetics

The Australian Rotary Health Research Fund (ARHRF) invites applications
from recent graduates looking to build a career in research relevant to
Cancer Genetics; $25,000 pa; projects must be undertaken within a
university, public hospital, or other body approved under Section 78 of
the Income Assessment Act.

National Heart Foundation Travel Grant

The National Heart Foundation offers Travel Grants to researchers
working in the area of cardiovascular disease or related areas; travel
grants are open to Australian citizens or permanent residents, and are
for travel in July, August and September 2006.
