University of Sydney Grants-in-Aid 2006

 

Grants-in-aid (GIA) are available to provide students with travel grants
to support short-term periods of research overseas; applicants must be
citizens or permanent residents of Australia; most grants are open only
to full-time students enrolled in a research degree, although a small
number are available to undergraduates. Individual grants vary in value
and purpose with most approximately $1500.

 

Some GIA are open to applicants in any research area or faculty, however
many awards are targeted at students in particular faculties,
departments or research area.

Research Scholarships

 

Australian Stuttering Research Centre Postgraduate Research Scholarships

7 scholarships are available to work on projects coordinated by the
Australian Stuttering Research Centre; $25,000 pa; up to 3 years;
flexible funding for living expenses and conference travel; projects
will involve either clinical trials with adults or children who stutter,
prognostic variables associated with stuttering treatments, or
mechanisms underlying stuttering treatments.

Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) on Child and Adolescent
Self-Management of Type 1 Diabetes

This scholarship is for a research project leading to a PhD; the
scholarship will be based in the Faculty of Pharmacy and will focus on
patient-related disease state management issues, with a particular focus
on self-management of medications; applicants must be Australian
citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand citizens;
$25,118 pa plus a further $5,000 pa contribution from industry partners;
up to 3 years.

Other Scholarships

 

The Roger Pysden Memorial Fellowship

Up to 3 Fellowships of $6,000 are available for high achieving
Australians studying in manufacturing disciplines, researching or
working in manufacturing to undertake an overseas investigation that
will benefit the future competitiveness of Australian industry.

Overseas Scholarships

 

Alzheimer's Australia Research Travelling Scholarship

AAR is offering a travelling scholarship up to the value of $15,000
(exclusive of GST) to enable an Australian researcher or clinician to
research aspects of dementia overseas.  Scholarships will be awarded for
the purpose of undertaking research that is not fully available in
Australia and is relevant to the advancement of understanding dementia
or dementia care and management.
