Information Session on Postgraduate Studies in the UK and the US

The Research Office will host an Information Session on the application
procedures and scholarship opportunities for postgraduate studies in the
UK and US on 7 September 2005.  It will be presented by representatives
from the US Consulate, the British Council and the Commonwealth
Scholarship and Fellowship Plan selection committee.

The Blackshaw Scholarship Residency Program in Ruminant Health and
Production

Open to candidate undertaking Master of Veterinary Clinical Studies and
progress towards achieving an advanced clinical qualification; the
clinical training is in Ruminant Health and Production at the University
Veterinary Centre, Camden; $35,000 pa + an annual grant of $5,000; up to
2 years; applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of
Australia.

Centre of Clinical Research Excellence (CCRE) - Infection & Bioethics in
Haematological Malignancies (IBHM) Scholarships

Open to nursing, medical, allied health personnel and social researchers
working in the areas of malignant haematology and/or Infectious Diseases
for research commencing in 2006; for Masters and PhD studies;
$20,837-$30,014 pa (subject to qualifications i.e. MBBS or non-MBBS).

Short Term Postgraduate Scholarship

Open to candidate to work in the project "Multi Objective and Multi
Disciplinary Optimisation of UAV systems using Hierarchical Asynchronous
Parallel Evolutionary Algorithms"; applicants should have a degree in
Aeronautical Engineering and should preferably be enrolled in a masters
degree; 6 months only; $8,000 for the 6-month period.

Dairy R&D Postgraduate Scholarships and Study Awards

The following scholarships are available to Australian citizens or
permanent residents:

1) Research degrees to PhD level:  $22,000 pa to $27,000 pa + operating
support of $3000 pa; supplementary funding for applicants who have been
awarded University scholarships at levels below DAIRY AUSTRALIA awards.

2) Coursework degrees in extension and related disciplines: only partial
support to offset the cost of courses.

3) Scholarships for Farmers: Open to farmers to undertake part-time,
postgraduate coursework education; no stipend or allowances; only
partial support to offset the cost of courses.

Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents.

Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation (RIRDC)
Postgraduate Scholarships

Available for research compatible with the RIRDC research priorities;
applicants should hold a Hons 1 or 2A degree or equivalent in an
appropriate discipline; mature age students with experience in rural
industry are particularly invited; $22,500 pa + an allowance of $3,500
to the host institution to cover the student's non-capital maintenance
expenses; applicants must be permanent residents or citizens of
Australia; APA applicants may apply to RIRDC on a 'Top-Up' basis.

Gowrie Scholarship Trust Fund Research Scholarships 2006

Open to graduates or final year students who are members of the Forces,
children, grandchildren or other lineal descendants of members of the
Forces who saw active service for a Commonwealth country in WWII;
tenable for up to 2 years at universities or other recognized research
establishments either in Australia or overseas; $4,000 pa.

Endeavour Programs - Malaysia and Turkey

Open to applicants who have an undergraduate degree; applicants must be
citizens or permanent residents of Australia, and physically resident in
Australia, at the time of application (dual citizenships or permanent
residents of Turkey or Malaysia are ineligible):

Endeavour Malaysia Research Fellowships - for 4-6 months postgraduate
and postdoctoral research in any fields of study in Malaysia; up to
$25,000.

Endeavour Malaysia Awards - for postgraduate study in Malaysia or
research in Malaysia towards a higher degree in Australia in any fields
of study; for 1 semester to 3 years; but funding is for the 1st year
only; up to $50,000.  

Endeavour Research Fellowships for Turkey - for 4-6 months postgraduate
and postdoctoral research in Turkey; 1 award is for Military Studies; or
Archaeology with a particular focus on matters relating to the Gallipoli
campaign of 1915; the other award is for all fields of study; up to
$25,000.

Endeavour Postgraduate Awards for Turkey - for postgraduate study in
Turkey or research in Turkey towards a higher degree in Australia in any
fields of study; for 1 semester to 3 years, but funding is for the 1st
year only; up to $50,000.
