University of Sydney Grants-in-Aid 2005
Grants-in-aid (GIA) are available to provide students with travel grants
to support short-term periods of research overseas; applicants must be
citizens or permanent residents of Australia; most grants are open only
to full-time students enrolled in a research degree, although some are
offered to undergraduates. Individual grants vary in value and purpose
with most approximately $1500.
Some GIA are open to applicants in any research area or faculty, however
many awards are targeted at students in particular faculties,
departments or research areas including:

Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources; Arts; Education and Social
Work; Engineering; Economics and Business; Conservatorium of Music;
Medicine; Science; Sydney College of the Arts; Veterinary Science.
Departments/Research Areas:
Anthropology - PNG, Melanesia, Micronesia, Polynesia And Southeast Asia;
Archaeology - Classical Hellenic; Cancer Research; Chinese/Japanese
Studies;
East Asian/Melanesian Studies; English; Germanic Studies; History;
Music; Old Norse/Old English; Social Work; Women In Prehistoric
Societies; Study At Emmanuel College, Cambridge.

Turkish Government - Summer Course Scholarships for Turkish Language and
Culture
Category: Research Scholarships
Postgraduate Scholarship in Molecular-Scale Electronics
Open to candidate with a good honours degree in science or electrical
engineering to undertake research studies leading to a MSc in Chemistry;
the project is to investigate aspects of surface science, self-assembly
and theory; $23,886 pa; up to 2 years for MSc or up to 3 years for PhD;
the scholarship will not cover any tuition fees payable by international
students.

RSPCA Australia Scholarships
RSPCA Australia Alan White Scholarship for Animal Welfare Research - For
original research projects aimed at improving the welfare of animals in
Australia.
RSPCA Australia Scholarship for Humane Animal Production Research - For
individual research projects that are related to the development of
humane alternative animal production systems. Applicants must be
enrolled full-time at an Australian tertiary institution; $7,000.

Turkish Government - Higher Education Scholarship
Open to Australian students who are interested in studying at a Turkish
University commencing on 1/10/05; 145.-New Turkish Liras/month, free
accommodation and medical care expenses; travel expenses to, within and
from Turkey will be met by the scholars or their government.
