Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) on New Drugs for Autoimmune
Disease
Available for a full-time PhD research project; the project is to
develop several models of common human autoimmune diseases in laboratory
mice and to use these to test potential new botanical-based drugs for
useful therapeutic properties; applicants should have an Hons 1 or 2A
degree in a biological science; must be Australian citizens, Australian
permanent residents or NZ citizens; $23,886 pa in 2005; up to 3 years.

Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) in Managing Phytophthora in
Native Ecosystem
Available for a full-time PhD research project; the project will
explore the biochemical and molecular characteristics of
Phytophthora-plant interactions that determine the effectiveness of
phosphite-induced disease control in native ecosystems; applicants
should have an Hons 1 or 2A degree in plant science; must be Australian
citizens, Australian permanent residents or NZ citizens; $23,886 pa; up
to 3 years.

Fisheries Scientific Committee Student Research Grants 2005 for
Threatened and Rare Species in NSW
Available for Honours and Masters students enrolled at NSW Universities;
to encourage research projects on the conservation and management of NSW
protected, threatened and endangered marine and aquatic species; up to a
value of $1500.

Greek State Scholarship Foundation (IKY) 2005-2006
Available for studies in Greece for academic year 05-06; up to 4 years
for a PhD or up to 3 years for a second Masters; 1 year for collection
of research data for PhD students; up to 2 years for specialisation in
the fine arts; 600 Euros for initial expenses, stay permit dues, tuition
fees for the School of Modern Greek Language, free medical care in
public hospitals in case of emergency; an allowance of 500 Euros/month;
applicants must be Australian citizens and hold a graduate degree from a
university, have an excellent knowledge of English or French and < 35
years old; medical doctors must not > 40 years old.

Japanese Government Monbukagakusho Scholarships
Open to Australian citizens who wish to study at Japanese universities;
2 years starting in April 2006 or 18 months starting in October 2006;

Grant for Cotutelle 2005
Open to 1st year PhD student of Cotutelle program on 1st January 2005;
to help Australian PhD students move within the frame of the Cotutelle
program, and to develop scientific cooperation between French and
Australian research teams; max. 5100 euros for the whole duration of the
program.
