CSIRO Livestock Industries PhD Scholarships

A number of PhD scholarships are offered for 2005; applicants should be
completing or have completed an honours science degree (or equivalent in
agricultural or veterinary Sciences or related disciplines); the scope of
research ranges from livestock systems research to molecular biological
approaches to livestock problems designed to enhance the research capacity
to support the Australian livestock industries; up to $30,000 pa; 3 yrs;
applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents.

Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation (RIRDC) Postgraduate
Scholarships

RIRDC awards post-graduate scholarships to foster research training in
disciplines compatible with the Corporation's research priorities;
applicants who have obtained a Australian Postgraduate Award and apply to
RIRDC on a 'Top-Up' basis will be well regarded; applicants should hold a
first or upper second class honours degree or equivalent in an appropriate
discipline and have a strong motivation to make a professional career in the
further development of Australia's rural industries;  applications from
mature age students with experience in rural industry are particularly
invited; applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents;
$22,500 pa  + $3,500 pa maintenance allowance; 3yrs

PhD scholarships in Mycobacterial Disease research

The Faculty of Veterinary Science, Farm Animal Health has opportunities in
several areas of mycobacterial disease research; funded by Meat and
Livestock Australia (MLA); stipend of $25,000 pa. (tax exempt) with funds
for additional training and travel; Applicants should have an Honours 1 or
2A in Science, Animal Science or Veterinary Science or equivalent; must be
Australian citizens or permanent residents.

Frank Knox Memorial Fellowships to Harvard University 

3 awards are available to students from Australia to undertake postgraduate
study at Harvard University in  2005-2006; applicants must be Australian
citizens, normally resident in Australia; have recently graduated or are
about to graduate from an Australian institution and have spent at least 2
of the last 4 years at university at the time of application; have graduated
no earlier than 2003 or will graduate before 9/05; applications will not be
considered from students who are already in the US or for undergraduate or
postdoctoral study; scholarship comprises living expenses stipend for single
fellow for a 10-month academic year and tuition and student health insurance
fees; up to 2 yr for students in degree programs requiring more than 1 yr of
study.

Swedish Institute Guest Scholarships

Open for students of all nationalities (excludes Nordic countries) for study
at advanced university level, masters, for part of a PhD, or post-doc
studies at any university or university college in Sweden 2005/2006; not
awarded for a complete course of study leading to a PhD; SEK 7,500 per mth
for graduate and research students and SEK 9,000 per mth for holders of a
PhD; 9mths to 3 years

Available to an undergraduate or post graduate student of the University of
Sydney with a good academic record or with special abilities, who would
benefit from residence in International House and who requires financial
assistance; covers 50% of the International House fees for a single study
bedroom accommodation during 1 academic year initially but may be awarded
for additional years; preference to an Australian Aboriginal or a student
from Papua New Guinea or the Pacific Islands.
