University of Sydney Postgraduate Award (Co-funded), College of Health
Sciences
Open to candidates who wish to commence a full-time Masters by research or
PhD degree from Semester 1, 2004 in the Faculty of Dentistry, Health
Sciences, Medicine, Pharmacy or Nursing; applicants must have Hons 1 or
equivalent; $18,484 pa; 2 years for Masters and 3 years for PhD; applicants
must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand
citizens; applicants who were in the University's 2004 APA/UPA round and
current students who upgraded from Masters to PhD need not apply.

Two PhD Scholarships in Bioinformatics
2 PhD scholarships are available to candidates with good Hons degrees in
biology, mathematics, statistics, computer science, computational science
or physics to undertake full-time research leading to PhDs in Comparative
Genomics and Evolutionary Biology at USYD or Uni of Adelaide; the research
is to retrace the early evolution of animals through development and use of
new phylogenetic tools and data; $18,484 pa; up to 3 years; relocation
allowance may be provided in certain circumstances; international students
can also apply but they will be expected to cover their own tuition fees.

Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) in Marine Robotics
Available to support a full-time research project leading to a PhD; the
project is to develop the algorithms and methods capable of modelling
unstructured, reef environments using data collected by an autonomous
robotic system capable of surveying the Great Barrier Reef; applicants
should have an Hons 1 or 2A degree in mechanical, mechatronic, electrical
or systems design engineering or computer science; applicants must be
Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand
citizens; $23,886 pa; 3 years.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Veterinary Science
Open to candidate to undertake full-time research leading to a Masters by
research degree; the research is to work on the project entitled
"Specialised management of gilts and their progeny"; the successful
candidate will be based at QAF's farms in Corowa, NSW, but will have
regular visits to USYD at Camden; $23,000 pa + $500 thesis allowance in the
2nd year.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Pensions and Retirement Modelling
Open to candidate with a good Hons degree in economics, or equivalent, to
undertake research studies leading to a PhD in the School of Economics &
Political Science; the project is to undertake the theoretical and
empirical modelling, and policy analysis, of pensions and retirement within
an overlapping generations (OLG) framework; $18,484 pa + an allowance for
conference and textbook expenses; up to 3 years.
