Postgraduate Scholarship in Resource Recycling
Open to candidate with a good Hons degree in agricultural science, science 
or equivalent, to undertake research studies leading to a PhD in resource 
recycling; the project is to investigate the recovery of water-absorbing 
macromolecules in a compost matrix from the processing of disposable 
nappies, which are often alleged to have a negative environmental impact; 
$24,014 pa; up to 3 years; applicants must be citizens or permanent 
residents of Australia.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Dermatology
Open to candidate with a MBBS to undertake research studies leading to a 
M.Med in dermatology; the project is to investigate the effects of 
different ultraviolet wavelengths on human skin immune responses; $25,000 
pa for 2 years; applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of 
Australia.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Structural Engineering
Open to candidate with an Hons 1 degree in engineering to undertake 
research studies leading to a PhD in the stability of thin-walled 
structural members; the project is to investigate the interaction of local 
and distortional buckling in thin-walled high strength steel sections; 
$25,886 pa; up to 3 years; applicants must be citizens or permanent 
residents of Australia.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Medicine (Preventing the progression of renal 
disease)
Open to candidate with a medical degree leading to a PhD in medicine; the 
project is to evaluate the effects of screening for renal disease, and 
interventions designed to prevent the progression of renal disease; 
preference will be given to applicants currently conducting research in the 
area, and who have formal training on research methods (eg MPH); $29,489 pa 
(stipend + allowances); up to 3 years.

Surface Coatings Association Australia Scholarship
Open to students enrolled in a postgraduate degree within the School of 
Chemistry, USYD and working in the area of surface coatings (including 
pigments, polymers, corrosion, weathering, adhesion and methods of 
manufacture); students must also be a current holder of a postgraduate 
scholarship; 1 year @ $1,500.
