Postgraduate Research Scholarship in Phase Imaging
Available for full-time research leading to a PhD; applicants should have a
Hons 1 or 2A or a Master degree in science or engineering; the project will
improve and apply an innovative approach to obtaining phase information from
electron microscopy images; $18,837 pa with additional funds possible; up to
3 years; a top-up scholarship is available to an applicant who already holds
an APA or other scholarship.

Postgraduate Scholarships and Scholarship Supplements, School of Aerospace,
Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering
Open to Hons graduates in Science or Engineering to undertake research
leading to MER or PhD in Engineering; the research is aimed at generating
enhanced numerical tools to optimize combustor designs; $23,000 pa; up to 3
years; a supplement to $23,000 will be awarded to a current scholarship
holder; international students can apply, preference will be given to
citizens and permanent residents of Australia.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Medical Education
Open to a candidate with a high standard undergraduate honours or Masters
degree in education or medical/health professional education to undertake
research studies leading to a PhD in Medical Education; $22,000 pa; up to 3
years; applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of Australia.

Conservative Treatment of Acute Low Back Pain PhD Scholarship
Available to support full-time PhD candidature for 3 years with a
possibility of extension for 6 months; the study will investigate whether
the addition of spinal manipulative therapy and/or NSAIDS to medical care,
improves the outcome of acute low back pain; applicants must be currently
registered or immediately registerable to practise as a physiotherapist in
NSW; $21,000 pa; conference expenses of $5,000 pa; applicants must be an
Australian or NZ citizen or an Australian permanent resident.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Medicinal Chemistry / Radiochemistry
Open to a candidate with a good Hons degree in chemistry to undertake
research studies leading to a PhD in medicinal chemistry/radiochemistry; the
project is to investigate the structure activity relationships of ligands
suitable for imaging the peripheral benzodiazepine receptor (PBR); $18,837
pa; up to 3 years; applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of
Australia.

Postgraduate Scholarship on Estuarine Contaminant Modelling
Available to support a full-time research project leading to a PhD; the
project is to build an estuarine contaminant model for Port Jackson,
applicants should have an Hons 1 or 2A degree in chemistry, geosciences or
engineering or equivalent experience; $18,837 pa; Australian citizens,
Australian permanent residents or NZ citizens will be given preference.

project is to understand processes controlling removal of contaminants from

chemistry, geosciences or engineering or equivalent experience; $23,886 pa
(2004 rate); applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent

from Catchments
Available to support a full-time research project leading to a PhD; the
project is to understand processes controlling contaminant generation in

degree in chemistry, geosciences or engineering or equivalent experience;
$23,886 pa (2004 rate); applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian

controlled radical polymerization; applicants should have an Hons 1 or 2A
degree in materials science and engineering or mechanical engineering;
$23,886 pa (2004 rate); applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian

Fluorinated Coatings for Stone Preservation with DuPont
Available to support a full-time research project leading to a PhD; the

for stone preservations; applicants should have an Hons 1 or 2A degree in
materials science and engineering or mechanical engineering; $23,886 pa
(2004 rate); applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent

Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) in Cultural Heritage and
Environmental Spatial Modelling
2 scholarships are available to support a full-time research project leading
to a PhD for research on cultural and natural landscapes in the Angkor World
Heritage Area, Cambodia $23,886 pa (2004 rate), $5,000 pa for costs
associated with the research; applicants must be Australian citizens,
Australian permanent residents or NZ citizens.

PhD Scholarship in NF1 Research
Open to a graduate with BSc Hons (1 or 2A) or equivalent, to undertake a
laboratory-based PhD project; the project will involve the development of
mouse and cell-culture models of NF1-related orthopaedic conditions; $24,309
pa in 2005; 1 year; students awarded an APA are encouraged to apply and will
be eligible for a top-up to the maximum allowed; applicants must be
Australian citizens or permanent residents.

C.A.S. Hawker Scholarship
Available to any Australian student undertaking a 3 or 4 year course of
study; successful applicants can choose to study at one of the nominated
Australian universities or Cambridge Uni in the UK; value and number of
scholarships are determined by the Trustees; normally covers all compulsory
fees, books, stationery and equipment with an allowance for living expenses;
contribution to travel expenses may also be made.
