Research Scholarships in Liver Disease, NHMRC Centre for Clinical Research
Excellence to Improve Outcomes in Chronic Liver Disease

Open to candidate to undertake research studies leading to a MMed or PhD at
USYD; research areas are related to liver disease; applicants must have a
medical degree and have training in clinical gastroenterology/hepatology;
$28,014 pa; initially for 12 months with a possibility of renewal for a
further 3 years; applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of
Australia.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Inorganic Nanomaterials

2 scholarships are available for suitably qualified candidates with a good
honours degree in science or engineering to undertake research studies
leading to a PhD in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology; $23,886 pa; up to 3

Postgraduate Scholarship in Nanostructured Ceramic Membranes

Available for a research project leading to a PhD; the project is to
fabricate and assemble nanofibres of metal oxides to develop nanomeshes for
next-generation ceramic membranes; applicants should have an Hons 1 or 2A
degree or Masters degree in material science and engineering or chemistry;
$23,886 pa; up to 3 years.

Synthesis

Up to 2 scholarships and/or supplementary scholarships are available for
postgraduate research projects in the area of organic synthesis; $18,837 pa;
up to 3 years; supplementary scholarship is valued at $6,163 and only
available to students who are APA or equivalent scholarship recipients;

Available for students commencing an APA or comparable postgraduate
scholarship in 2005; research in the area of leukaemia and transplantation;
supplement to NHMRC Medical rate @$28,014; up to 3 years; applicants must

this is not an automatic award to all successful APA recipients.

Australian Egg Corporation Limited Postgraduate Scholarships

Up to 3 scholarships are available for research studies compatible with the
Corporation’s research priorities; candidates should hold an Hons 1 or 2A
degree or equivalent in an appropriate discipline; mature age students with
experience in rural industry are particularly invited; $25,000 pa; up to 3
years; an allowance of $3,500 to the host institution to cover the student’s
non-capital maintenance expenses; applicants must be permanent residents or
citizens of Australia.

A limited number of 3 years PhD scholarships are available for 2005 in areas
related to Smart Internet projects; $13,000 pa to top-up other awards,
primarily APA  or University scholarships; additional $5,000 pa for expenses
necessarily incurred in the research thesis or in regard to the related
Smart Internet project.

The Scots Australian Council Postgraduate Scholarship

1 or possibly 2 scholarships are available for an Australian to undertake a
1 year postgraduate degree at a Scottish University for academic year
2005/06; no restriction in field of study; includes a return economy
airfare, academic fees (capped at £12,000), an arrival and departure
allowance, a stipend (inclusive of a book and materials allowance) payable
for 10 months.
