Postgraduate Scholarship in Turbulent Combustion
Open to Hons graduates in Science or Engineering to undertake research
leading to MER in Engineering; the candidate may choose one of the
projects: (i) a study of premixed flames in vitiated a co-flow, (ii)
premixed flame propagation past solid obstacles, and (iii) reacting and
non-reacting sprays; $22,000 pa; 1 year only; possible extension to a PhD;
international students can apply, preference should be given to citizens
and permanent residents of Australia according to ARC guidelines.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Biomedical Engineering
2 short-term full-time postgraduate scholarships are available for
candidates with an Hons degree in biomedical engineering to undertake
research studies towards the completion of a Master of Engineering
(Research) in biomedical engineering; the project is to investigate the
effects of surface roughness of biomaterials on their cell-attachment
characteristics; $8,000 for a 9-month period; applicants must be citizens
or permanent residents of Australia.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Grid Computing
Open to candidates with a good Hons degree in science or engineering to
undertake research studies leading to a PhD in applied mathematics; the
project is to investigate the design of new algorithms for scheduling grid
services; $18,484 pa; 1 year only; applicants must be citizens or permanent
residents of Australia.

Open to candidate with an Hons 1 or 2A degree or equivalent to undertake
research studies leading to a PhD; subject to successful enrolment in
full-time PhD research degree at USYD; strong English communication skills

permanent residents of Australia or citizens of New Zealand.

Open to women of any age who wish to carry out some short project, in any
field, that necessitates a short stay in Canberra; offers free board and
lodging for up to 4 weeks at a residential college at the Australian
National University, Canberra; woman graduate or final year Hons student
from a university or tertiary institution in Australia, New Zealand, Papua
New Guinea or South Pacific countries; preferably during the 2004/2005
summer vacation.

Beryl Henderson Memorial Grant
Open to women who are enrolled in Honours IV or postgraduate programs in an
Australian university to complete a research project, or embarked on
research work with publication in view; the grant is to assist with
practical aspects of research such as intra- or interstate travel to
consult library sources, or to consult with research collaborators; could
also be used for obtaining information from overseas which is not available
via the internet; research related to the rights and welfare of women and
children will be viewed favourably; $1000.
