Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) on Machining Hard-Brittle Wafers
Open to candidate to undertake research project leading to a PhD in 
machining characteristics and material properties of hard-brittle wafers; 
applicants should have an Honours 1 or 2A degree in materials science and 
engineering, applied physics, manufacturing engineering or mechanical 
engineering; experience/background in machining or modelling of materials 
properties of ceramics or silicon would be an advantage; applicants must be 
Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand 
citizens; 3 years @ $23,294.

CSIRO Postgraduate Scholarships for 2004
Up to 60 supplementary PhD scholarships are available for students 
undertake research in different scientific fields, especially in projects 
which are aligned to CSIRO's National Flagship Programs; $7,000 pa, up to 3 
years; higher stipends may be offered in specific areas; at least $4,000 pa 
for necessary travel and operating costs of the project + an additional 
$6,000 to support attendance at on international conference and associated 
overseas laboratory visits during the 3-year program; applicants must have 
or expected to gain 1st class honours or equivalent in a relevant area in 
2003; must expect to receive APA or equivalent University scholarships 
commencing in 2004 and must be Australian citizens or permanent residents.

Fisheries Scientific Committee Student Research Grants 2004
Open to Masters students enrolled at NSW universities; to encourage 
research projects on the conservation and management of NSW protected, 
threatened and endangered marine and aquatic species, includes many species 
of fish, invertebrates and marine plants; the project must be completed 
during 2004 and administered through an Australian University; up to $1,500.
