Peter Platt Memorial Scholarship
Open to the most distinguished person to further their research studies in
music, namely in Musicology, Modern Composition or Musical Performance
(including historical performance practice; the successful applicant must
be a USYD graduate with a major in Music, and must have outstanding
qualifications in at least 2 of the above areas; can be used to continue
his/her studies in Australia or overseas; approx. $4,000.

Postgraduate Scholarship to Study the Associative Bases of Extinction
Open to candidate with a good honours degree in psychology to undertake
postgraduate research studies leading to an MSc or PhD in psychology; the
project is to investigate the associative bases underlying the extinction
of conditioned responding in rats; applicants should have a firm grounding
in theory and experimental paradigms in the area of associative learning in
animals; experience in designing and conducting behavioural experiments
with rats is essential; 2 years @ $18,009 pa, may be renewed for a 3rd year
in the case of PhD candidature; applicants must be citizens or permanent
residents of Australia.

Northern Clinical School PhD Top-up Scholarship
Up to 4 top-up scholarships are available for students who will enrol
through the Northern Clinical School of the USYD and will be commencing an
Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) or comparable competitive postgraduate
scholarship in 2004; top-up to an amount equal to the NHMRC stipend rate
(($26,782 in 2003); up to 3.5 years; applicants must have submitted, or be
about to submit, an application for an APA (closing date: 31/10/03) or
comparable scholarship award from a similar competitive scheme; please note
that this is not an automatic award to all successful APA recipients; the
Northern Clinical School reserves the right to decide which schemes are
comparable.

Lincoln Centre for Research into Bone and Joint Disease Doctoral Scholarships
Available to support and nurture outstanding talent in the field of Bone
and Joint Disease rather than providing infrastructure support for existing
projects; the scholarships will allow graduates to proceed towards a PhD or
MD and evidence of enrolment for a higher degree is necessary; at NH&MRC
stipend rate (approx. $27,000 pa).

2004 Winifred E Preedy Postgraduate Bursary - AFUW
Open to women doing a Masters or PhD in Dentistry or related field, past
or present students in the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of
Adelaide and must have completed 1 year of their postgraduate degree;
applicants should have a good honours degree; $4,000.

Australian Foundation for Studies in Italy
Up to five travel fellowships are available for Australian, principally
postgraduate and postdoctoral scholars, wishing to undertake research in
Italy during 2004; applicants should engage in the study of Italian
history, culture and society, or archaeology and classical antiquities, and
be practitioners in the humanities and arts wanting to pursue creative work
in Italy; max. of $3,000.
