Lucy Firth Sydney University Postgraduate Scholarship
Open to candidates who have completed 4 years undergraduate training, or 
three years undergraduate followed by a year of graduate training, and must 
in the last year of his or her course have obtained a degree with 1st Class 
Honours or Honours Class II Division 1, or hold an equivalent 
qualification, and be enrolled for a full-time PhD in Psychology; $10,400 
pa; up to 3 years with the possibility of an extension of 6 months; 
applications must be Australian citizens or permanent residents.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Statistical Mechanics
Up to 2 full-time postgraduate scholarships are available for candidates 
with a good honours degree in physics, chemistry, or applied mathematics to 
undertake research studies leading to a PhD in statistical mechanics; the 
applicants should have an interest in condensed matter theory, mathematical 
modelling, and computer programming; $18,009 pa, up to 3 years.

NHMRC Travelling Award for Research Training 2004
Available to all current holders of NHMRC Postgraduate Scholarships; 
applicants cannot hold this award in the first 6 months of their fellowship 
or scholarship; may apply for the award in the second 6 months of their 
fellowship or scholarship; a living allowance of $5,000 for 3 months up to 
a max of $10,000 for 6 months, and an airfare allowance for the successful 
awardee of up to $2,500, will be paid for a Travelling Award held overseas; 
a living allowance of $3,000 for 3 months up to a max of $6,000 for 6 
months, and an airfare allowance for the successful awardee of up to 
$1,000, will be paid for a Travelling Award held in Australia.

The General Sir John Monash Awards
Up to 8 Awards may be awarded to outstanding Australian citizens graduating 
from Australian Universities to enable them to undertake postgraduate study 
aboard leading to the degree of PhD/D.Phil or equivalent or to a relevant 
Master Degree; applicants must have outstanding level of academic 
excellence; demonstrated outstanding leadership ability and altruism 
demonstrated through community service; up to $50,000 pa for 3 years.

The Dr Bernard Lake Award 2003
Open to a medical practitioner or graduate medical student for the 
publication, in a peer-reviewed journal, of significant original work 
undertaken in Australia on the integration of complementary therapies into 
the practice of medicine; publications accepted for consideration must be 
dated in or after October 2001; $2,000.
