Postgraduate Medical Scholarship in Liver Disease, Westmead and Royal 
Prince Alfred Hospitals
Open to researchers with backgrounds in nursing, nutrition and dietetics, 
epidemiology and physiotherapy, medical or related health sciences; 
preference will be given to those wishing to enrol in a full-time research 
degree, such as MM, M Med Sci, PhD; strong English communication skills are 
essential; $23,239 for health sciences graduates, $26,782 for medical 
graduates; initially for 12 months with a possibility of renewal for a 
further 3 years; applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of 
Australia.

Julian Small Research Grant
Open to postgraduate students who are undertaking research and are involved 
in the study of law or industrial relations; 1 or more grants of up to 
$12,000; no grant will be less than $4,000; the successful applicant will 
be chosen on the basis of a research proposal; the Foundation will provide 
assistance for publication of any resulting research.

National Breast Cancer Foundation Postgraduate Research Scholarships
Calling for applications for research scholarships for funding to commence 
in 2004; up to 3 years; research in all aspects of breast cancer will be 
considered.

Sir Arthur Sims Travelling Scholarship
Open to graduate of an Australian university to undertake research or a 
recognised course of postgraduate study in Great Britain (England, Scotland 
or Wales); applicants who are graduates of an Australian university and can 
demonstrate outstanding academic and community-based achievements will be 
considered; approx $20,000 pa for 1-3 years; applicants must be born in 
Australia, or whose parents have both been Australian residents for at 
least 7 years, with the period of residence having commenced within 3 years 
of the birth of the applicant.

Australia-Israel Scientific Exchange Foundation Postgraduate Fellowship
Funds to assist a student enrolled in a postgraduate research degree in an 
Australian University to spend up to 6 months working in a research 
laboratory in Israel; the research activity undertaken by the student must 
be part of, or contribute to, the Australian postgraduate degree for which 
they are studying; cover economy airfare, max. $5,000 living and 
accommodation costs for 6 months; applicants must be citizens or permanent 
residents of Australia.
