NHMRC Training Scholarship for Indigenous Health Research
Open to applicants enrolled in a diploma, certificate, undergraduate or
postgraduate degree at a fully accredited institution; for research
training or training leading to research in areas of particular relevance
to indigenous Australians; valued at $17,609 pa (APA rate), $22,723 pa
(NHMRC rate for nursing or allied health professionals) or $26,188 pa
(NHMRC medical/dental scholarship rate) depending on qualifications; for
one year but renewable to three (subject to satisfactory progress).

NHMRC Medical/Dental Postgraduate Research Scholarship
Open to medical or dental graduates undertaking a postgraduate degree
involving full-time research; all relevant health related disciplines,
including social and behavioural science, will be considered; $26,188 pa;
awarded for 1 year initially with possibility of renewal for up to 3 years.

NHMRC Dora Lush (Biomedical) Postgraduate Scholarships
Open to graduates who have completed a science or health related honours
degree (or equivalent), unregistered medical or dental graduates from
overseas who have permanent residence status and are currently residing in
Australia, students enrolled in a graduate medical program combined with a
PhD, and Allied Health Professionals with an Honours degree or equivalent;
candidates must enrol for a higher degree requiring full-time research;
$17,609 pa or $22,723 pa for allied health professionals; awarded initially
for 1 year with possibility of renewal up to 3 years.

NHMRC Public Health Postgraduate Scholarships
Open to Australian citizens or permanent residents residing in Australia
who are medical or dental graduates registered to practice in Australia,
Australian citizens who have already completed a health related degree (or
equivalent) at time of submission of the application, health related
graduates and unregistered medical or dental graduates from overseas who
have permanent resident status and are currently residing in Australia;
$17,609 pa, $22,723 pa for allied health professionals, or $26,188 pa;
initially awarded for 1 year with possibility of renewal for up to 3 years.

NHMRC Postgraduate Scholarships for Primary Health Care Research
Open to Australian citizens who have already completed a health related
degree (or equivalent) at honours level or higher at the time of
submission; or health related graduates (at honours level or higher) from
overseas, who have permanent resident status and are currently residing in
Australia; $17,609 pa, $22,723 pa for allied health professionals, and for
medical/dental graduates $26,188 pa.

Community Health and Tuberculosis Australia (CHATA)
Open to science or medicine graduates of outstanding ability who are
proceeding to a higher degree to undertake research relevant to
tuberculosis or respiratory diseases; must be Australian citizens or
graduates from overseas who have permanent resident status and are
currently residing in Australia; $17,609 pa and for medical/dental
graduates $26,188 pa.

Henry Bertie and Florence Mabel Gritton Research Scholarships in Chemistry
related to Industry and Agriculture
Open to candidates enrolling in a higher degree by research in relation to
Industry and Agriculture, including Chemistry connected with Electrical
Engineering, Metallurgical Chemistry and Chemistry in its application to
Mining and the winning treatment of minerals and natural products of the
soil; open to (a) graduands and graduates of universities which are members
of the Association of Commonwealth Universities, or (b) graduands and
graduates of any university who are either citizens of a Commonwealth
country or who are permanent residents of Australia; up to three
scholarships for commencement in second semester 2002; valued at $17,609 pa
in 2002;

Excellence Bursaries
Open for Masters, Doctoral or post-Doctoral research at Quebec
universities; to assist in the framework of co-operation between Quebec and
foreign universities; includes travel costs, tuition fees, subsistence
allowance and some expenses related to study and medical insurance subject
to individual assessment.

Ontario Graduate Scholarships
Open to students of high academic standing who have been accepted by an
Ontario degree-granting institution; must have obtained a valid student
authorisation from Canadian immigration
authorities prior to application; valued at C$5,000 per term for two or
three consecutive terms one term awards are not granted; students must pay
tuition fees from this sum.
