Dear ASA Colleagues,

The Macquarie University node of the ARC Centre of Excellence for All-sky Astrophysics in 3 Dimensions (ASTRO 3D, https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/189cCJyBrGfqYx7n1TVtiEr?domain=astro3d.org.au<https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/189cCJyBrGfqYx7n1TVtiEr?domain=astro3d.org.au/>) is advertising three 3-year postdoctoral positions in the areas of galaxy evolution and data science.

- Two positions will focus on Data-Intensive Astronomy, creating unique opportunities for applicants with strong interests (or existing skills) in both data science and astrophysics research. Each position will dedicate half their time to developing innovative research-oriented data applications and methodologies, working with the AAO Data Central team (https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/QhItCK1DvKT2nLj1BFvVhfB?domain=datacentral.org.au<https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/QhItCK1DvKT2nLj1BFvVhfB?domain=datacentral.org.au/>) in partnership with ASTRO 3D projects (spanning optical, radio and simulation/theory). The other half of their time will be dedicated to conducting independent data-intensive astronomical research related to one or more of the scientific programs of the Centre of Excellence.

- One position will be focused on Galaxy Evolution research using integral field spectroscopy (IFS) from the newly commissioned Hector multi-IFS instrument. The successful candidate will work closely with Dr Matt Owers and Associate Professor Richard McDermid, together with the Hector Team, conducting a 15,000 galaxy survey at high spectral resolution using the Anglo-Australian Telescope (AAT) at Siding Spring Observatory.

In line with the ASTRO 3D's goal of achieving equal numbers of male and female researchers across all levels, at least two of these three positions will be filled by researchers who identify as women.

Applications close on February 13th, 2022, at 11:59pm local time in Sydney.
