Hello ASA 2021 registrants

Recent events are certainly keeping we meeting organisers on our toes!! Unfortunately, many of you are now unsure of your ability to attend the ASM in person at your local hub, as planned. The Hubs LOC will meet late tomorrow afternoon following government health updates in Qld, NSW and WA. Based on the outcomes of those discussions, some of you will receive a survey from your local hub contact early next week to poll people's preferences for going ahead with an in-person versus a fully online meeting. If it's necessary (and possible) to have some kind of scaled-back version of your local hub we'll be working hard to find a flexible, COVIDSafe way to offer that. In the meantime....

  * If people need to change their registration type from in-person to online due to COVID restrictions a refund will be offered for the cost difference.
  * Please don't email me directly as instructed on the website! Due to the volume of requests, we'll be gathering this information at the hub level.
  * No refunds will be processed until after the event.
  * More instructions will be forthcoming.

  * Talks and other sessions will be broadcast via Zoom + breakout rooms with speakers presenting in front of local audiences where possible
  * Links will be sent out at the beginning of each day.
  * Meeting rooms for each hub will be loaded into the Schedule (https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/FqTcCOMKzVTprkOzzcE4j8-?domain=blogs.unimelb.edu.au) as the information becomes available
  *   Slido for Q & A
  * Slack channel/s and 'randomly assigned meetings' will be set up for networking
  * Posters will (preferably) be submitted as videos and edited to create a youtube video which will be displayed at each hub on a continuous cycle
  * Most hubs will have local tech support each day
  * Maps and directions for getting to each hub will be sent to each hub's registrants by the local organisers.

  * 254 abstract submissions were received. Talks have been offered to the successful applicants.
  * Instructions for speakers can be found here: https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/a3lICP7LAXfKAn688c0j6SP?domain=blogs.unimelb.edu.au
  * Check out the one stop webpage for program and session details including direct links to talk abstracts and poster pdfs (when we receive them) at: https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/FqTcCOMKzVTprkOzzcE4j8-?domain=blogs.unimelb.edu.au/
  * A huge thanks to Uni Melb PhD student Lennart Balkenhol for his speedy work on this.
  * Poster Instructions can be found here: https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/7HstCQnMBZfk4LRMMTMRzQU?domain=blogs.unimelb.edu.au

  * Calling all students. Win some prizes and gain the admiration of your peers:

A separate announcement will go out to the Harley Wood attendees with logistics and accommodation information early next week.

More information will be circulated next week.
Kind regards,

Kim (on behalf of the LOC)
