Research Scholarships


PhD Scholarship- Evaluation of the cost effectiveness of orientation and mobility services for people with blindness and low vision
This PhD project will involve development of economic models to access the cost-effectiveness of these programs; the student will be affiliated with The George Institute for Global Health at the University of Sydney and will work closely with epidemiologists and skied health economists at The George Institute and orientation and mobility specialists at Guide Dogs NSW/ACT; valued at the APA rate ($26,288pa in 2016), further supported by a $10,000 per annum top-up; up to 3 years.

Postgraduate PhD scholarship: Agent-based modelling, simulation and forecasting of epidemics
This PhD study will aim at developing (i) novel modelling framework for forecasting of critical phenomena during epidemic crises; and (ii) novel computational methods for large-scale agent-based simulation of disease diffusion based on complex networks, information theory and percolation theory.  Applicants must satisfy the eligibility criteria for PhD enrolment at The University of Sydney, and those with backgrounds in applied mathematics, physics, computer science, information theory, complex networks and computational epidemiology will be beneficial. Valued at the APA rate ($26,288pa in 2016) for up to 3 years.

John A Lamberton Research Scholarship
These scholarships provide financial support for postgraduate scholars of exceptional ability who are working toward higher degrees at the University of Sydney in areas emanating from and inspired by the work of Dr John A Lamberton or in the area of science aimed at chemical understanding of brain function and malfunction. Open to both domestic and international students. Valued at the APA rate ($26,288pa for 2016) or at $7,000pa for supplementary scholarships, subject to availability of funding.

Surface Coatings Australia Scholarship
The purpose of this scholarship is to foster the further advancement of education in coating fields. The student must be enrolled in the MSc or PhD degree within the School of Chemistry and working in the area of surface coatings (including pigments, polymers, corrosion, weathering, adhesion and methods of manufacture). The student must be a current holder (or expect to hold) a postgraduate scholarship (APA, UPA, Gritton or equivalent). Valued at $1500 – top up for one year only.
