REMINDER: AFGW NSW Tempe Mann Travelling Scholarship closes on 30
September 2010. A scholarship of $7,500 is awarded to a woman to
undertake a short period of research work overseas. For more information

Research Scholarships

 

Australian Rotary Health PhD Scholarships 2011

Applications for PhD Scholarships are being called for by the Australian
Rotary Health; the Scholarships are available in Motor Neuron Disease,
Parkinson's Disease; Depression; Phenylketonuria; Role of Metals in
Treatment of Cancer; Diabetes;  Bowel Cancer; Infant Limb Deficiency;
the Geoff Bailey PhD Scholarship for indigenous student is also
available;  applicants must be about to commence a PhD, or be in the
first year of a PhD at a University or research institute in Australia;
applicants must be Australian citizens or Australian Permanent Residents
and not be under bond to any foreign government; the value varies;
department is required to co-fund; up to three years. 

Closing Date:  26 November 2010

 

Postgraduate Scholarship in Resilience to Psychological Distress

This scholarship will provide support for a full-time basis for a
research project leading to a PhD; the project will explore either
factors that predict psychological resilience to trauma or the
investigation into whether psychological resilience can be learned;
applicants should have an Honours 1 or 2A degree in Psychology and be
Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand
citizens; $22,500pa or up to $10,000pa as a top-up; up to three years. 

Closing Date: 15 December 2010

 

Top-up Postgraduate Scholarship in Polymer and Biomedical Science

The CSIRO and the University of Sydney are offering a top-up scholarship
to applicants in the field of Polymer and Biomedical Science; applicants
must already have been successful in obtaining a primary scholarship
such as an Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) or University
Postgraduate Award (UPA), International students are also welcome to
apply, provided they have already secured a full living allowance and
full tuition fee scholarship; $7,000pa; up to three years.

Closing Date: 30 November 2010

 

The Cooke, Cooke, Coghlan, Godfrey and Littlejohn Scholarship

Available by the generosity of five benefactors of the Sydney Law
School; the scholarship is available upon application to graduates in
law of the University of Sydney who enrol full-time in a higher degree
either within the Faculty of Law at the University of Sydney or at
another institution of similar standing, or to any graduate of any other
university who enrols full-time in a higher degree in the Faculty of Law
at the University of Sydney; the award amount is based on the value of
the APA or Sydney Travelling Scholarship; one year and may be extended
for a further year.

John O'Brien Memorial Research Scholarship in Criminal Law and
Criminology

Established in 2008 by a bequest to establish a memorial fund in
perpetuity named the John O'Brien Memorial Fund; the purpose of the
bequest is to provide scholarships in the University of Sydney Law
School in particular for students in criminal law; valued at the APA
rate (2010 $22,500); up to two years for the Master of Criminology
degree, or Master of Laws degree, and up to three years for a SJD or PhD
degree.

Closing Date:  17 November 2010

 

Longworth Scholarship

Established in 1998 by a generous bequest of the late Barbara Irene
Longworth; to assist an exemplary and needy law student to further his
or her career in law; graduates in law enrolled in a postgraduate course
or research degree program at the Sydney Law School, with preference
given to candidates wishing to undertake a full time research degree;
$12,400pa; up to one year with the possibility of extension.

Closing Date: 17 November 2010

 

Reca Stone Scholarship in Legal Theory

Established by the generous bequest of the Wolfensohn Family Foundation;
to assist an exemplary and needy postgraduate research student working
in the field of legal theory; the scholarship is available to an
applicant who enrols in a full-time postgraduate research program at the
Sydney Law School; $11,500pa; up to one year with the possibility of an
extension.

Closing Date: 17 November 2010

 

Ross Waite Parsons Scholarship

Established 1970 by the Committee for Postgraduate Studies in the then
Department of Law (now known as the Continuing Legal Education
Committee); awarded based on academic merit, and quality of proposed
program of research; applicants must be full-time candidates for a
degree program leading to the award of Doctor of Philosophy, Doctor of
Juridical Studies, or one of the Research Master's degrees offered by
the Sydney Law School; valued at the APA rate (2010 $22,500); up to 1
year for Master's Degree, and up to 2 years for Doctoral degrees, with
the possibility of extension for Doctoral candidates only.

Closing Date: 17 November 2010
