Research Scholarships

 

PhD Scholarship on Correlative High-Resolution Tomography

This scholarship will provide support initially for 6 months on a
full-time basis for a research project leading to a PhD; the project
looks at the use of correlative high-resolution tomography for materials
characterisation; applicants should have an Honours 1 or 2A degree in
physics or engineering or hold a Master degree; applicants must be
Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand
citizens; $25,000pa; up to 6 months.

Henry Bertie and Florence Mabel Gritton Research Scholarships - in
Chemistry related to Industry and Agriculture 2011

These scholarships are funded each year by a bequest from the estates of
Henry Bertie and his wife Florence Mabel Gritton; the scholarships are
to promote the knowledge and study of Chemistry in relation to Industry
and Agriculture, including Chemistry connected with Electrical
Engineering, Metallurgical Chemistry and Chemistry in its application to
the Mining and the winning and treatment of minerals and natural
products of the soil; value, tenure and benefits are similar to that of
the APA.

G.C. Henderson Research Scholarship 2011 (in history of the Polynesian,
Melanesian and Micronesian communities) 

Funded by a bequest from Professor G.C. Henderson to promote and
encourage research into the history of the Polynesian, Melanesian and
Micronesian communities; open to full-time postgraduate research
candidates intending to enroll in the Department of Anthropology or
History; tenure and benefits are similar to that of the UPA.

DBH Scholarship 2011


This scholarship was established by a series of donations from Dr Robin
J Helby under the express wish that the scholarship be offered in three
different fields in rotation; in 2011 Semester one, the DBH Scholarship
will be open to candidates to undertake postgraduate research in the
area of the social effects of alcoholism, and is primarily open to
sociologists; tenure and benefits are similar to that of the APA.

Australian Postgraduate Research Award (Industry) on Aerial Motion of
Athletes

A full time PhD scholarship is available for research project in
mathematical sciences; the project aims to measure and model the aerial
motion of platform and springboard divers and to develop optimal control
to improve performance; applicants should have an Honours 1 or 2A degree
in mathematics or engineering; applicants must be Australian citizens,
Australian permanent residents or New Zealand citizens; international
students can apply but the scholarship does not cover any tuition fees
payable by international students; this scholarship is conditional on
the University formalising an agreement with the NSW Institute of Sport;
$27,222; up to three years.

Overseas Scholarships

 

DAAD Research Grants for Doctoral Candidates, Young Academics and
Scientists

These research grants provide young foreign academics and scientists
with an opportunity to carry out a research project or a course of
continuing education and training at a German higher education
institution or non-university research institute for the purpose of
gaining a PhD; requirements, award values and duration are available
online.

Closing Date:  30 September 2010

 

Dan David Prize

Tel Aviv University will provide 10 Dan David Prize Awards to study
topics in the pre-selected fields of Evolution; Cinema and Society; and
Ageing- Facing the Challenge; aimed at outstanding doctoral and
postdoctoral students; applicants should show excellent achievement and
promise studying topics related to the pre-selected fields; US$15,000.
