Research Scholarships
PhD Scholarship in the Virtual Geological Observatory
Applications are invited for two PhD scholarships in Plate
Tectonics/Geodynamics; the position will focus on building plate
kinematic models and on linking plate kinematic models to mantle
convection, mantle seismic tomography and geological observations;
applicants must have an undergraduate degree and an MSc degree or
first-class Honours degree in geology or geophysics; $27,222pa; up to
three years.

Top-up Postgraduate Scholarship in Biomolecule-Polymer Therapeutics
The School of Chemistry is offering a top-up scholarship valued at
$7,000 per year; candidates must be successful in obtaining a primary
scholarship such as an Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) or University
Postgraduate Award (UPA) to undertake full-time research studies at this
University; international students are also welcome to apply, provided
they have already secured a full living allowance and full tuition fee
scholarship.

CSIRO Livestock Industries PhD Studentships
CSIRO Livestock Industries has a strong and vibrant postgraduate student
training program and offers PhD studentships (scholarships) each year;
the successful candidates will be chosen on academic merit; applicants
must be Australian citizens or residents and have (or be completing) an
honours science degree (or equivalent in agricultural or veterinary
sciences or related disciplines); $30,000pa; up to three years.

Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships
The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships (Vanier CGS) program attracts
and retains world-class doctoral students to Canadian universities by
supporting individuals who demonstrate strong leadership skills and a
high standard of scholarly achievement in graduate studies in health,
natural sciences, engineering, humanities and social sciences; C$50,000;
up to three years.
Closing Date: 20 October 2010
Trudeau Foundation Doctoral Scholarships
Trudeau Scholarships are awarded each year to support doctoral
candidates pursuing research of compelling present-day concern, touching
upon one or more of the four themes of the Foundation; valued at
C$40,000pa with an additional C$20,000pa for research-related travel
expenses; up to three years.

Other Scholarships
Australian Academy of Science Travel Grants to the 61st Meeting of Nobel
Laureates in Lindau
The Australian Academy of Science invites nominations from young
Australian scientists, preferably in the final years of their PhD, to
attend the 61st Meeting of Nobel Laureates in Lindau, Germany 26 June
to 1 July 2011; the 2011 meeting is dedicated to Physiology /Medicine;
includes up to A$2,000 toward travel costs to Lindau; accommodation and
registration costs will be covered by the Council for Lindau Nobel
Laureate Meetings.
