Research Scholarships

 

PhD Scholarship in Coral Reef Sedimentology and Stratigraphy

This scholarship will provide support for a full-time research project
leading to a PhD; the objective of the research project is to
investigate the biologic and geologic response of the Great Barrier Reef
to sea level and climate changes by generating and linking new
observational data with numerical modelling; applicants should have an
Honours 1 or 2A degree (or equivalent) in earth and/or environmental
science; $26,669pa; up to three years. 

Closing Date:  30 June 2010

 

Postgraduate Scholarship in Resilience to Psychological Distress

This scholarship will provide support for 3 years on a full-time basis
for a research project leading to a PhD; the project aims to explore
either factors that predict psychological resilience to trauma or the
investigation into whether psychological resilience can be learned;
applicants should have an Honours 1 or 2A degree in Psychology;
applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents
or New Zealand citizens; $22,500pa; up to three years.

Margaret Brown Wright Scholarship

A full-time PhD scholarship is available for a suitably qualified
nutritionist to work with the Concord Health and Ageing in Men Project
(CHAMP) which is a longitudinal study involving more than 1000 men;
applicants should be members of the Dieticians Association of Australia
and be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or New
Zealand citizens; $25,000pa; up to 3 years.

Anthony Rothe Scholarship

The Anthony Rothe Scholarship is now open for applications from
postgraduate students eligible to enroll to undertake a full-time PhD in
a University, or affiliated Public Hospital or Public Benevolent
Institution in NSW; the proposed research must be in the causes,
prevention, and treatment or cure of leukemia and allied blood
disorders; $28,000pa and $5,000pa for costs and travel; up to three
years. 

Closing Date:  27 August 2010

 

Overseas Scholarships 

 

The Sir Robert Menzies Memorial Scholarships in Law

On offer are post-graduate scholarships in law for tenure at
universities in the United Kingdom commencing October 2011; the
scholarship includes return airfares and substantial emoluments which
are not subject to United Kingdom income tax; the scholarship is awarded
based on academic  excellence, leadership and extra-curricular
activities; for up to 1 year.

Other Scholarships

 

National Climate Change adaptation Research Facility Research Support
Grants

The National Climate Change Adaptation Research Facility (NCCARF) is
offering up to 10 student research grants to Honours and Masters
students; the grants are for students undertaking research in an area of
climate change adaptation for marine biodiversity and resources;
applicants must be enrolled full-time in an Australian higher education
institution; up to $7,000pa. 

Closing Date:  21 June 2010. 

 

King and Amy O'Malley Scholarships 2010

The King and Amy O'Malley Trust offers up to 30 scholarships for
tertiary study in Home Economics each year; open to students who are
undertaking full time postgraduate study in an aspect of Home Economics
in Australia or overseas; applicants must have a home economics
undergraduate qualification; up to $7,500pa.
