Research Scholarships

 

Postgraduate Scholarship in Tuberculosis Drug Development

A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably
qualified candidate to undertake research studies leading to a PhD in
infectious disease; the project is to identify new inhibitors of
tuberculosis; applicants should have an Honours 1 or 2A degree in
infectious diseases; applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian
permanent residents, or New Zealand citizens; $22,500pa; up to three
years.

Australian Postgraduate Research Award (Industry) on the Behaviour of
Post-tensioned Composite Slabs

This scholarship is funded by an ARC Linkage-Projects grant and will
provide support for 3 years on a full-time basis for a research project
leading to a PhD; the objective of the research project is to
investigate the behaviour of post-tensioned composite steel-concrete
floor systems and to develop feasible guidelines for practical use;
applicants should have an Honours 1 or 2A degree in engineering;
$26,669pa; up to three years.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Analytical Toxicology/ Pharmacology

A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably
qualified candidate to undertake research studies leading to a PhD; the
project is to investigate the gradual disappearance of THC and related
cannabinoids from the blood and urine of heavy cannabis users;
applicants must have a good honours degree in pharmacology, pharmacy, or
a related discipline; applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian
permanent residents or New Zealand citizens; $22,500pa; for tenure in
2010.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Ruthenium Anti-Cancer Drugs

A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably
qualified candidate to undertake research studies leading to a PhD in
chemistry.  The project is to investigate the anti-metastatic and
anti-cancer properties of Ru anti-cancer drugs; applicants must have a
good honours degree in science or engineering or the equivalent;
$22,500pa; up to one year.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Integrated Sustainability Analysis

A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably
qualified candidate to undertake research studies leading to a PhD in
Integrated Sustainability Analysis (IAS); the project looks at applying
quantitative methods to contemporary problems in Environmental Science;
applicants must have a good honours degree in science and a range of
research-related and communication skills; $20,427pa; up to three years.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Molecular Genetics of Porphyria

A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for a medically
qualified candidate to undertake research studies leading to Master of
Philosophy in molecular genetics of porphyria; the project is to
investigate the genotype-phenotype correlation in porphyria; Applicants
should be familiar with molecular genetics of porphyria; applicants must
be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand
citizens; $35,000pa, up to one year.

Meat and Livestock Australia On-farm Postgraduate Scholarships

Applications are now being invited for Meat and Livestock Australia
on-farm postgraduate scholarships and study awards tenable in Australia
or overseas; the scholarship program supports students doing
postgraduate studies (mostly PhDs) for the three years of their
candidature; the projects are varied and cover a wide range of
industry-related topics; students receive a stipend higher than
Australian Postgraduate Award stipends, plus support for project costs.

Australian Stuttering Research Centre Postgraduate Research Scholarship
(Psychology)

A full-time PhD scholarship is available at The University of Sydney for
a suitably qualified candidate to undertake a project that involves the
development of an on-line CBT program for adolescents who stutter;
applicants must have an honours degree in psychology; includes flexible
funding for project expenses and conference travel; $25,000pa; up to
three years.

Australian Stuttering Research Centre Postgraduate Research Scholarship
(Stuttering Treatment/Psychology)

Two full-time scholarships are available at The University of Sydney for
suitably qualified candidates leading to a PhD; topic one looks at
attention, cognitive functioning and memory in adults who stutter; topic
two looks at speech restructuring treatment for adults who stutter with
and without safety behaviours; applicants should have an honours degree
in speech-language pathology or psychology; $25,000; up to three years.

International Fulbright Science and Technology PhD Scholarship

The Australian-American Fulbright Commission are offering an exciting
new scholarship opportunity for an Australian graduate to study for a
PhD at a US university fully funded for up to three years; covers full
tuition; return airfare, monthly stipend, allowances for books, health
and accident insurance, support and enrichment seminars; valued at up to
AU$300,000.
