Research Scholarships

Postgraduate Scholarship in Polymer Science
A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably
qualified candidate to undertake research studies leading to a PhD in
Chemistry; the project is to develop new polymeric materials for
application in homecare products; Applicants must be Australian
citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand citizens and
must have an Honours degree in Chemistry; $26,669pa; up to three years.

Australian Postgraduate Research Award (Industry) on Emissions Trading
and The Design and Operation of Australia's Energy Markets.
This scholarship is funded by an ARC Linkage-Projects grant and will
provide support for a research project leading to a PhD at the
University of Sydney. The objective of the research project is to
examine the impact of new environmental markets for emissions trading
and renewable energy on Australia's energy markets using the methodology
of Experimental Economics; applicants should have an Honours 1 or 2A
degree in economics or finance. Australian citizens, Australian
Permanent Residents, New Zealand citizens, and International Students
are eligible to apply. However, the APAI does not cover any tuition fees
payable by International Students; $27,222pa; up to 3 years.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Cancer Epidemiology
A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably
qualified candidate(s) with a good honours degree or Masters level
degree in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, science or other
relevant field to undertake research studies leading to a PhD in cancer
epidemiology or cancer services research.  More than one scholarship may
be offered; applicants should have a particular interest in cancer
epidemiology or cancer services research.  Proposed thesis topics are
encouraged within the broad area of cancer epidemiology research,
including investigations into aetiology, prevention, early detection,
treatment, cancer service delivery or cancer outcomes.  Applicants must
be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand
citizens and is tenable for three years; $25,000pa; up to 3 years.

Postgraduate Scholarship on Social Transformation and International
Migration
Up to four full-time scholarships commencing 2010 semester 2 are being
offered for research leading to a PhD; the project will re-examine the
theoretical and methodological basis of international migration
research; applicants should have a good honours or masters degree in a
relevant social science, demonstrated research and analytical skills,
interest in international migration, good written and verbal
communication skills, and knowledge of the language, culture and society
of one of the fieldwork areas; $22,500pa; up to three years.
