The Taiwan Studies Postgraduate Symposium offers travel grants to
postgraduate students working in the field of Taiwan studies, to present

Research Scholarships
Postgraduate Scholarship in Bioleaching of Mineral Oxides and Wastes
A full-time PhD scholarship is available as part of a project in mineral
processing to create the technology for biologically assisted
dissolution of the metallic fractions from mineral oxides and wastes;
the research project is designed to carry out comprehensive and in-depth
study into mechanisms involved in the bioleaching of minerals and
wastes; applicants should have an Honours 1 or 2A degree in Materials
Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry or Chemical Engineering; applicants
must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or New
Zealand citizens; international students may apply however this
scholarship does not include any tuition fees payable by international
students; from $22,500pa; up to three years.
Closing Date: 8 October 2010
Postgraduate Scholarship in Biohydropyrolysis of E-wastes
A full-time PhD scholarship is available as part of a project to carry
out comprehensive and in-depth study into the biohydropyrolysis of
e-wastes; the project looks at microbiological approaches as a
sustainable method for recovering energy and chemical resources from the
polymeric components of e-wastes; applicants should have an Honours 1 or
2A degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry or Chemical
Engineering; applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian
permanent residents or New Zealand citizens; international students may
apply however this scholarship does not include any tuition fees payable
by international students; from $22,500pa; up to three years.

Postgraduate Scholarship on Adhesion Study of Polymer and Cement Based
Coatings on Sewer Cement Pipe Substrates
A full-time PhD scholarship is available as part of a project designed
to carry out comprehensive on the premature failure of coatings by
delamination and cracking in sewer systems; applicants should have an
Honours 1 or 2A degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry or
Chemical Engineering or equivalent work experience; international
students may apply however this scholarship does not include any tuition
fees payable by international students; $25,000pa; up to three years.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Bone Biology
A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available at the ANZAC Research
Institute for a suitably qualified candidate to undertake research
studies leading to a PhD; the position is subject to successful
enrolment in a full-time PhD research degree at the University of
Sydney; the research will be conducted in the Andrology Laboratory at
the ANZAC Institute to study the hormonal regulation of gonadal
development and spermatogenesis; applicants must have an Honours 1 or 2A
degree or Masters equivalent; applicants must be citizens or permanent
residents of Australia or citizens of New Zealand.; $27, 222pa; up to
three years.

Peter Cullen Postgraduate Scholarship
This scholarship is offered by the NSW Government Office of Water and
aims to improve understanding of how rivers, groundwater, wetlands and
estuaries function and respond to enhanced management, improve the
linkages between aquatic science and water management in NSW, and
provide research opportunities in NSW for water specialists; applicants
must be Australian citizens or permanent residents; applicants must be
enrolled in the first year of a PhD in 2011 Semester 1; $20,000pa; up to
three years.

Summer Scholarships at the National Library of Australia
Applications are now open for 6-week long Summer Scholarships at the
National Library; the opportunity allows PhD students to immerse
themselves in the Library's rich Australian collection and other
collections to support their research.

Near Eastern Archaeology Foundation Grants
The Near Eastern Archaeology Foundation (NEAF) offers several grants to
assist postgraduate students to undertake research overseas, to pursue
research in the archaeology of Egypt, Cyprus, or Western Asia. The
grants are valued from $1,500 to $5,000.
