2010 Semester 1 Australian Postgraduate Awards (APA), and University of
Sydney Postgraduate Awards (UPA)

Applications for the 2010 Semester 1 APA/UPA are now open. The
Information for Applicants document, Application Form, and Referee
Report form are available for download from:

Applications close Friday, 30 October 2009. 

 

In addition, around 100 university-wide top-ups will be available in
2010 to highly ranked APA/UPA applicants.  These top-ups are the Vice

The following scholarships are offered in conjunction with the 2010

Scholarships in the Faculty of Health Sciences

Scholarships in the Sydney Conservatorium of Music

Scholarships in the Faculty of Veterinary Science

Henry Bertie and Florence Mabel Gritton Research Scholarships (in
Chemistry related to Industry and Agriculture)

Approximately 6 scholarships are funded each year by a bequest from the
estates of Henry Bertie and his wife Florence Mabel Gritton; the
scholarships are to promote the knowledge and study of Chemistry in
relation to Industry and Agriculture, including Chemistry connected with
Electrical Engineering, Metallurgical Chemistry and Chemistry in its
application to the Mining and the winning and treatment of minerals and
natural products of the soil; value, tenure and benefits are similar to
that of the APA.

 

DBH Scholarship (in social effects of alcoholism)

This scholarship was established by a series of donations from Dr Robin
J Helby under the express wish that the scholarship be offered in three
different fields in rotation; in 2010 Semester 1, the DBH Scholarship
will be open to candidates to undertake postgraduate research in the
area of the social effects of alcoholism, and is primarily open to
sociologists; tenure and benefits are similar to that of the APA.

The Douglas and Lola Douglas Scholarship (in child/adolescent health)

This Scholarship was established from the bequest of the late Lola
Rachel Maude Douglas to support postgraduate research in
child/adolescent health at the University of Sydney; the scholarship is
open to Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents, and New
Zealand citizens; value, tenure and benefits are similar to that of the
APA.

 

G.C. Henderson Research Scholarship (in history of the Polynesian,
Melanesian and Micronesian communities)

Funded by a bequest from Professor G.C. Henderson to promote and
encourage research into the history of the Polynesian, Melanesian and
Micronesian communities; open to full-time postgraduate research
candidates intending to enroll in the Department of Anthropology or
History; tenure and benefits are similar to that of the UPA.
