Postgraduate Scholarships in Bone Biology

Two full-time postgraduate scholarships are available for suitably qualified candidates to undertake research studies leading to a PhD; the research will be conducted at ANZAC Research Institute to study the effects of glucocorticoids on bone and autoimmune arthritis; applicants must hold an Honours 1 or 2A degree or equivalent; applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of Australia or citizens of New Zealand; $26,407pa; up to three years.

PhD Scholarship in Plate Tectonics and Geodynamics

A PhD scholarship is available with Professor Dietmar Müller  and the EarthByte group at the School of Geosciences, University of Sydney; will look at role of dynamic plate boundary processes such as mid-ocean ridge subduction, slab breakoff and slab window formation on time-dependent heat-flow and deep earth resources at plate boundaries, in particular ore deposits; applicants must hold a degree based on at least 4 years of study, including a significant research project component, and have Honours or MSc qualifications or their equivalent; $26,407pa; up to three years.

PhD Scholarship in Geo-Data Mining

A PhD scholarship is available with Professor Dietmar Müller  and the EarthByte group at the School of Geosciences, University of Sydney; The position will focus on developing data-mining tools in order to analyse the adjacency associations of mineral deposits with key processes, such as mantle upwellings and flat slab or ridge subduction; applicants must hold a degree based on at least 4 years of study, including a significant research project component, and have Honours or MSc qualifications or their equivalent; $26,407pa; up to three years.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Diagnostic Decision Making

A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably qualified candidate with a medical degree to undertake research studies leading to a PhD in Medicine; the project is to conduct a range of studies around the process by which clinicians make a diagnosis and use diagnostic information to decide upon tests and treatments; applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of Australia; applicants should have completed specialist training in paediatrics, and have a senior clinical appointment within a paediatric emergency department setting; $32,628pa; up to three years.

Australian Biological Resources Study (ABRS) Top-up Scholarships

New in the 2010/2011 round, the Australian Biological Resources Study (ARBS)  is offering applicants beginning a Ph.D. on an Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) in 2010 the opportunity to top up the existing APA rate ($22 500 in 2010) by $10,000 per year.

CSIRO 2010 Honours and Postgraduate Scholarship Program

In 2010 the Program will support a number of new PhD Top-up Scholarships; available to PhD students who are commencing an APA in 2010; students are co-supervised by researchers in an Australian university and CSIRO; the project must be relevant to one of ten priority research areas.
