PhD Scholarship in the origins, diversity, and adaptation of the stripe
rust pathogen in Australia

The Cooperative Research Centre for National Plant Biosecurity (CRCNPB)
is seeking a PhD candidate to conduct a study to investigate the genetic
profile of endemic Puccinia striiformis (stripe rust) populations, using
existing and newly developed microsatellite markers; regular
opportunities for travel, professional development, additional funding
opportunities, and interaction with other scientists and students;
applicants should have Honours 1 or 2A and be Australian citizens or
perment residents; $26,000pa.

Postgraduate Scholarships and Scholarship Supplements in Displacement
Air Conditioning

Applications are invited from Honours Graduates in Science or
Engineering for postgraduate primary or top-up scholarships leading to
an MER or PhD in Engineering; the project is to undertake research on
furthering understanding of fluid mechanics processes occurring in
displacement air conditioning applications; applicants must be
Australian citizens or permanent residents; $27,000pa or top-up amount
to total $27,000pa; up to three years.

Gabrielle Lee Scholarship in Health Sciences

A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably
qualified candidate with a medical degree to undertake research studies
leading to a PhD in the field of health literacy and aging; the project
is to investigate the effects of ageing on health literacy in older
people with arthritis and their carers; applicants should have a medical
degree and additional qualifications in gerontology and/or ageing
research such as a Masters degree; applicants must be Australian
citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand citizens;
$25,000pa; for 6 months.

Frederick Russell Scholarship in Medicine

A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably
qualified candidate in physiotherapy to undertake research studies
leading to a PhD in gerontology; the project is to investigate ageing
and osteoporosis in men; applicant should have experience and/or
qualifications in physiotherapy, epidemiology and gerontology;
applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents
or New Zealand citizens; $25,000pa; up to 2 years.

Postgraduate Scholarship in PEEK-Based Medical Implants

A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably
qualified candidate with a bachelor's degree in materials science
leading to a PhD in engineering; the project concerns the polymeric
biomaterial PEEK; $20,427pa; up to three years.

CSIRO Scholarship in Cognitive Radio Techniques in Multi-hop Wireless
Broadband Services

Applications are invited for a prestigious OCE Postgraduate Scholarship
in the research area "cognitive radio techniques leading to a PhD; the
project is to design to develop novel algorithms for cognitive radio
techniques in multi-hop wireless communications targeting applications
in the next generation wireless broadband services; applicants should be
Australian citizens or permanent residents however there are some
exceptions; primary and top-up funding available.

Overseas Scholarships

 

Australia-Israel Scientific Exchange Foundation (AISEF) Postgraduate
Fellowship

The AISEF Postgraduate Fellowship is directed at promoting scientific
exchange and collaboration between Israel and Australia; will provide
funding to assist a student enrolled in a postgraduate research degree
at an Australian University to spend up to 6 months working in a
research laboratory in Israel.
