Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) in Ginger Medicinal Products in
Diabetes

A full-time Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) is available for a
suitably qualified candidate leading to a PhD in Pharmacy (Medicinal
Products); applicants should have an Honours 1 or 2A degree or
equivalent in a relevant chemical or biological field; the project is to
investigate the development of ginger (Zingiber officinales) in the
prevention and management of type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome;
applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents
or New Zealand citizens; $26,669pa for up to three years. 

Closing Date:  7 December 2008

 

Postgraduate Scholarship in Ginger Medicinal Products in Diabetes

A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably
qualified candidate leading to a PhD in Pharmacy (Medicinal Products);
applicants should have an Honours 1 or 2A degree or equivalent in a
relevant chemical or biological field; the project is to investigate the
development of ginger (Zingiber officinales) in the prevention and

Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) in Polymer Nanoparticles for
Industrial Applications

A full-time Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) is available for a
research project leading to a PhD; applicants should have an Honours 1
or 2A degree in science or engineering; the project is to investigate
synthesis and behaviour of complex nanoparticle systems for industrial
use and to develop guidelines for practical application; applicants must
be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand
citizens; $25,627 pa for up to three years. 

Closing Date:  15 December 2008

 

Postgraduate Scholarship in Polymer Science and Engineering

A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for suitably qualified
candidate leading to a PhD or MER IN Chemical Engineering; applicants
should have a good honours degree in science or engineering; the project
is to investigate the synthesis and behaviour of complex polymeric
nanoparticle systems; $21,000pa with additional supplementation; for up
to two years (MER) or three years (PhD).

JW and ICM Roderick Scholarship

A JW and ICM Roderick Scholarship is available for a suitably qualified
student with an Honours degree (or equivalent) in Engineering or Science
to undertake full time research leading to a PhD degree; for study in
modelling the mechanical behaviour of hexagonal materials during complex
loadings; $20,427pa for up to three years; local and international
students may apply but the scholarship does not cover any tuition fees;
separate tuition fees scholarships may be provided for international
students from the School of Civil Engineering.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Protein Trafficking and Colon Cancer

A full-time post-graduate scholarship is available for a candidate with
BSc (Honours) to undertake studies leading to a PhD in the Faculty of
Medicine at Westmead Institute for Cancer Research; the project will
study regulation of the colon cancer proteins APC and beta-catenin;
applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents
or New Zealand citizens; $22,500pa for up to three years.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Microwave Photonics for
Radar/Antenna/Wireless Systems

A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably
qualified candidate to undertake research studies leading to a Ph.D. in
microwave photonics; the project targets the design of new photonic
signal processors and high-performance microwave photonic links for
modern radar/antenna/wireless systems; applicants must have a Master
degree or will submit the Master thesis soon, or a first class honours
Bachelor's degree; applicants can be local or international students but
the scholarship does not cover any tuition fees; $25,872pa plus a top up
of $7,000pa.

Australian Rotary Health Research Fund - Research Companion PhD
Scholarships

Applications for Research Companion PhD Scholarships are being called
for by the Australian Rotary Health Research Fund; scholarships are
available in the areas of children living in socially disadvantaged and
abusive families, mental illness, and Motor Neuron Disease; applicants
must be Australian citizens or Australian Permanent Residents;
applicants must be about to commence the first year of their PhD in
2009; $25,000pa for up to three years. 

Closing Date:  5 January 2009

 

Other Scholarships

 

Wentworth Group Science Program Scholarship

The Wentworth Group of Concerned Scientists has been active in advancing
solutions to secure the long term health of Australia's environment;
students with interests in natural and social sciences, resource
economics, environmental law, engineering and the built environment are
encouraged to apply; scholarship funds are intended to support a program
of mentoring by Wentworth Group members during 2009 and will also cover
the costs of travel, accommodation and expenses to a Master Class to be
conducted by members of the Wentworth Group, and are not intended for
use as a stipend; applicants must be postgraduate research students
enrolled at an Australian university during 2009, be Australian citizens
or have permanent residency.
