Research Scholarships

 

Postgraduate Scholarship in Neuroscience (Pain)

A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably
qualified candidate to undertake research studies leading to a PhD; the
project is to investigate the effects of experimental and clinical face
pain on jaw movement and jaw muscle function; $23,125 pa with the
possibility of a top-up scholarship; up to three years subject to
satisfactory progress; applicants must be graduates who are eligible for
admission to candidature for a higher degree by research and who enrol
accordingly as full-time candidates.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Chinese Medicinal Products in Diabetes

A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably
qualified candidate with a good honours degree in pharmacy, science or
health science to undertake research studies leading to a PhD in
Pharmacy (Chinese Medicine); the project is to investigate the safety
and efficacy of selected Chinese medicines (TCM) in the prevention and
management of type 2 diabetes; particular emphasis will be placed on the
examination of the evidence base of Chinese medicine theory and studies
will be undertaken at a rigorous scientific level; $25, 872 pa; up to
three years subject to satisfactory progress; applicants must be
Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand
citizens.

Children's Hospital at Westmead PKU Research Scholarship

A scholarship is being offered to a student who undertakes a PhD working
on molecular and functional studies of phenylalanine hydroxylase in
phenylketonuria; applicants should have an Honours Class 1 or 2A degree
from an Australian university (or equivalent) and must be Australian
citizens, Australian permanent residents, or New Zealand citizens;
$25,000 pa for up to three years with a possible 6 month extension,
conditional on satisfactory progress; applications are invited from
individuals able to commence study in Semester 2, 2008.

ICCS Scholarships

The International Council for Canadian Studies is offering 2 types of
scholarships for postgraduates and recent doctoral candidates to pursue
research or teaching in Canadian Studies (defined as research which aims
at a better understanding of Canadian society and/or culture and
includes most disciplines in the social sciences and humanities).

Postgraduate Travel Awards (ACSANZ)

Up to five grants are awarded each year to postgraduate students for a
short research trip to Canada; research must be in Canadian Studies and
related to the student's thesis topic; must involve research which aims
at a better understanding of Canadian society and/or culture and
includes most disciplines in the social sciences and humanities; valued
at up to A$3000; available to ACSANZ members only (new members welcome).

Doctoral Student Research Award (DSRA)

This award is designed to assist full-time graduate students at
degree-granting institutions of higher education, whose dissertations
are related in substantial part to Canada, to undertake doctoral
research about Canada; the award includes a contribution towards
international airfares and an allowance of C$1,200 per month up to a
maximum of 6 months.
