Postgraduate Scholarship on patient and carer preferences for dialysis
modality

For a suitably qualified candidate with a postgraduate degree (public
health, clinical epidemiology) with a specialisation in health economics
to undertake research studies leading to a PhD; the project is to
investigate patient and carer preferences for dialysis modality;
applicants should have at least 2 years experience working in health
research, and particular interest and experience working in the area of
kidney disease; $30,000 pa up to three years; applicants must be
Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand
citizens.

Children's Hospital at Westmead Genetic Bone Research Scholarship

For a student who undertakes postgraduate studies in the Master of
Medicine and Reproductive Health Sciences and Human Genetics to work on
clinical and genetic aspects of genetic skeletal dysplasias specifically
Osteogenesis Imperfecta; applicant should be a medical graduate with
postgraduate clinical training in genetics; $30,000 pa up to two years.

Postgraduate Scholarship in respiratory extracellular matrix biology

For a suitably qualified candidate with a first class honours degree in
science to undertake research studies leading to a PhD; the project will
investigate differences in the regulation and deposition of the
extracellular matrix and associated proteins which surround asthmatic
and nonasthmatic airway smooth muscle cells; the candidate must have
excellent written and verbal communication skills, be an Australian
citizen, Australian permanent resident or a New Zealand citizen; $20,000
pa up to three years.

Postgraduate Completion Scholarship in Psychology

For a suitably qualified candidate who plans to complete a PhD in the
next 12 months; the project is to investigate visual perception of faces
in comparative paradigm comparing human and animal (primate)
performance; applicants should have a particular interest in face
perception, and experience in behavioural work with animals; $20,007 pa
for 12 months; applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian
permanent residents or New Zealand citizens.

Arthritis Australia 2009 Research Awards -Scholarships

Arthritis Australia offers scholarships for young science and medical
graduates to undertake thesis studies into arthritis and related
disorders at recognised universities; the scholarships provide research
training to doctorate or master's level and are designed to develop the
intellectual and technical expertise required for a career involving
laboratory and clinical investigation; for one year renewable for three
years; applicants must be permanent residents or citizens of Australia.

Closing Date: 7 July 2008

 

Postgraduate Support Grant- GlaxoSmithKline Australia

GlaxoSmithKline is offering grants up to $15,000 per annum for two years
awarded to PhD or Post Doctorate students in the field of human health;
these awards are designed to provide further financial support to PhD or
Post Doctorate research students who are already in receipt of a
research grant from a non-commercial body.
