Doctoral Workshop on development and international organizations, Cape Town, South Africa, June 8-9 2008

Paper proposals are invited from current doctoral students and early career postdoctoral researchers conducting research on the World Bank Group and other international organizations in any social science field. Research Scholarships

 

Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) on Computer simulation techniques to reduce the incidence of femoral fracture after hip replacement surgery 

For a research project leading to a PhD; the objective of the research project is to develop programming code that optimises the position of the implant so as to minimise the risk of implant induced bone fracture; applicants should have an H1 or 2A degree in materials science and engineering or mechanical engineering; applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or NZ citizens;  $26,140 pa; up to 3 years.

Postgraduate Scholarship: Herpes simplex virus type 2 modulates the HIV infection of plasmacytoid and myeloid dendritic cells.

For a suitably qualified candidate with a science degree and postgraduate scientific training to undertake research leading to a PhD investigating the role of HSV in the HIV infection of dendritic cell subsets; $25,000 pa; up to 3 years; applicants must be Australian citizens or Australian permanent residents.

Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) on biotech applications and structural studies of fungal hydrophobin proteins

For a research project leading to a PhD; the objective of the research project is to undertake biophysical, structural and functional studies on fungal hydrophobin proteins with the aim of developing hydrophobin‑based products for biotech, pharmaceutical and industrial applications; applicants should have an H1 degree in biochemistry, protein chemistry, molecular biology or biotechnology; applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or NZ citizens; $25,627 pa; up to 3 years.

Postgraduate Scholarships and Scholarship Supplements in Environmental Fluid Mechanics 

For a research project leading to a MER or PhD; applications are invited from Hons Graduates in Science or Engineering; full scholarships or top-ups for current scholarship holders; successful applicant(s) will perform research on a project aimed at furthering our understanding of transport processes in reservoir sidearms; full scholarship $26,000 pa; up to 3 years; only citizens and permanent residents of Australia are eligible.

For PhD research to advance proteomics surveillance of the influenza virus and anti-viral drug screening; open to Australian citizens and permanent residents and New Zealand citizens only; candidates should hold a H1 or high 2A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline; $20,007 pa; up to 3 years.
