Postgraduate Research Scholarship to Advance the Proteomics Surveillance
of Influenza

A scholarship for full-time PhD research is available to advance
proteomics surveillance of the influenza virus and anti- viral drug
screening; applicants should hold an Honours 1 or high 2A degree (or
equivalent) in a relevant discipline; open to Australian citizens and
permanent residents only; up to three years; $25,000pa or $5,000pa top
up for APA/UPA holders.

Postgraduate Scholarships in Data Mining applications to
Computer-supported Collaborative Writing

The Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies is seeking
students interested in PhD research in the area of Data Mining and
Computer Supported Collaborative Learning; two scholarships are
available, one will be for creating text mining algorithms and systems
that interpret the students' documents and the discussions about them,
and the second will be for developing process mining tools that extract
patterns in the collaborative writing process; applicants should have
demonstrated experience with web engineering and data mining, proven
skills in programming Java, and evidence of a background in statistics
and algebra; local and international student can apply but the stipend
does not cover any tuition fees payable by international students;
$25,872pa (tax exempt); up to three years.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Dermatology

A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitable
candidate with a medical qualification (MBBS) to undertake research
studies leading to a PhD in dermatology; the project is to investigate
the effects of different compounds on ultraviolet radiation-induced
suppression of human skin immune responses; applicants must be citizens
or permanent residents of Australia; $26 000pa (tax exempt); up to three
years.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Novel Methods to Assess Cellular Oxidative
Stress

A full-time Post-graduate Scholarship is available for a suitably
qualified candidate with an excellent Honours degree in chemistry,
biochemistry, pharmacology or medical science to undertake research
studies leading to a PhD in Pathology; the Scholarship is for research
aimed at establishing new analytical methods to detect and quantify
reactive oxygen and nitrogen species in cells and tissues using
HPLC-mass spectrometry and other analytical techniques; applicants must
be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand
citizens; $20,427pa (tax exempt); up to three years.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Cellular Responses to Adversity: Oxidative
Stress and Protection Against Oxidative Damage

A full-time Post-graduate Scholarship is available for a suitably
qualified candidate with an excellent Honours degree in chemistry,
biochemistry, pharmacology or medical science to undertake research
studies leading to a PhD in Pathology; the Scholarship is for research
aimed at characterizing a yeast homologue of the human gene product heme
oxygenase-1; applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian
permanent residents or New Zealand citizens; $20,427pa (tax exempt); up
to three years.

Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) on Collaborations in Asthma
Management in the Community

This scholarship is funded by an ARC Linkage-Projects grant and will
provide support for 3 years on a full-time basis for a research project
leading to a PhD; the objective of the research project is to explore
the barriers and facilitators to collaboration between pharmacists and
GPs; applicants should have an Honours 1 or 2A or equivalent degree in
Pharmacy; Applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent
residents or New Zealand citizens; $26,140pa (tax exempt).

Postgraduate Scholarship in advanced analysis and design of locally
unstable steel structures

A scholarship is available for a student interested in pursing a PhD
degree in advanced analysis and design for locally unstable steel
structures; the topic of this project is to develop a reliability-based
design guideline for thin-walled steel structures by advanced finite
element analyses which consider the effect of cross-sectional
instability; applicants must have a good degree in engineering and be
interested in structural engineering; $20,427pa (tax exempt); up to
three years; local and international students can apply however the
scholarship does not cover any tuition fees for international students;
a separate tuition fees scholarship may be provided for international
students from the School of Civil Engineering.
